Janice Young Lander, age 69, of Omaha, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born July 5, 1947, in Harrison, the daughter of Everett and Froney Barnes Young.

Janice was a lifelong resident of the Omaha area. At the age of 14 she married Leon Lander November 24, 1961, at the Berryville Courthouse, and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending to her gardens and just being outdoors. She was a great cook and made the best sweet tea. Above all, she loved caring for her grandchildren and family.

Janice is survived by her husband, Leon Lander, of the home; her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Linda Lander, of Forsyth, Missouri; her daughter and her fiancé, Tracy Lander and Rickey Brassfield; her brother, Donald Wayne Young, of Omaha; six grandchildren, Ashley (Stephen Mowry) Asbury of Omaha, Elizabeth Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, Victoria (Ryan) Allen of Kansas City, Missouri, Jesse Roberson of Forsyth and Samuel and Heather Robe¬rson of New Bern, North Carolina; eight great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Ronnie Hutton, of Harrison. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Darrell Young.

Visitation was Tuesday at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Graveside service was Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha with Johnny Atchison officiating.

Honorary pallbearer was Nathan McElhaney.

Mrs. Lander was a kind and sweet woman and I had the pleasure of loving her and taking care of her till her final day I will truly miss her and I will always cherish the moments I had with her. Thank you to the family for allowing me into your home just to take care of her.
