Eulahgene Fletcher Wood, age 94, of Parkin, Arkansas died on December 17, 2016 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. Mrs. Wood had been a resident of Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City, AR for 4 and a half years.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Joe Wood of Parkin and her parents, Floyd and Tressie (Dennis) Fletcher of Paragould, AR.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her son, Dennis (Andrea) Wood of Wynne, AR and two daughters, Roberta (David) Wallace of North Little Rock, AR, and Jennifer (Tommy) Arant of Paragould, AR.

She leaves 6 grandchildren, Robin (Darrin) Blake of Springfield, MO, Audra (Will) Choate of Little Rock, AR, Mark (Lindsay) Wallace of Fayetteville, AR, Ryan (Jordan) Wood of Franklin, TN, Asher and Drew Wood of Wynne, AR; and 5 great-grandchildren, Hannah Blake, Devin Blake, Norah Choate, Bo Choate, Levi Wallace, and Kendall Wallace.

Eulahgene grew up on a farm in Greene County and graduated high school at Greene High. She was a graduate of Arkansas State College in Jonesboro. After marrying the love of her life, Joe, they began their long and happy lives together on a farm in the Togo community outside of Parkin. She loved living in the country where she worked in her garden and grew numerous flowers. She was a gifted teacher who shared her love of the Bible with youth teaching Sunday school for 40 years. She also served as a substitute teacher for Parkin Public Schools. Eulahgene was a devoted wife and mother. She was a born leader who was always willing to lead wherever needed as PTA President, scout leader for her daughters and son. She also served as Garden Club leader and Women's Missionary Leader for her church. Eulahgene devoted her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where she lived out her faith as a homemaker and church community leader. She was never happier than in her home with her family.

Eulahgene and WJ were loyal supporters of Arkansas State University and loved traveling to watch the ASU Indian (Red Wolves) football team. Mrs. Wood never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with a smile and lots of conversation. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be truly missed by her family and friends.

Her smile, her voice, her laughter were the most inviting pleasure when around her. It was impossible to feel disliked by her. She showed so much love to everyone, even strangers. She was an angel on earth.

Mrs. Eulahgene was such a sweet and beautiful lady. Daddy and Mother loved her dearly and I will always remember how sweet she was when I was a child growing up and how sweet she was to my children when I would see her. She always had a smile and a hug for everyone! She will be deeply missed!

What a beautiful summary of a person's life well-lived! What an enormous blessing to those who can say of her.....she was my friend, my neighbor, my sister, my wife, my mother, my grandmother, my great-grandmother. Her electric smile, ever joyous countenance, and conversation well-seasoned with her identifiable laughter are gifts she leaves behind to us all. One thing among many that comes to my mind about her was the fact that when she talked to you, she always looked at you in the eyes, with intent and interest and with that smile. When she was with you, SHE WAS WITH YOU...present and in the moment (a lesson we should all learn in this day and time!) Simply said, she has left a great legacy the breadth of which is known only to the Father!
