I was saddened to learn of Monroe's passing. We worked together in the Cotton Design Team in Hinsdale in the early 90's and remained friends since.

I will always remember Monroe as the perfect Southern Gentleman! He had a way about him which encouraged people to find their best. Personally he was an extremely resourceful engineer and he was always our "go to" man when we had difficult problem to solve, and he ALWAYS found a way to resolve the issue.

We have lost a tremendously resourceful engineer and a warm friend.

Deepest condolences to Toni & the family on the passing of Monroe. I was deeply saddened to have recently learned of his death. I first met Monroe in 1995 when I started working in the Cotton Division in East Moline. Monroe and I spent many, many hours together as we traveled the US and Internationally "working" on Cotton Pickers. We shared a common interest in the belief that we developing the Best "Red" Picker. Monroe's extensive knowledge and experience was greatly valued by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of "one-row" Monroe this past week. He truly loved the red pickers and the team of us that developed them together over the past 30 years. We always saw pictures of test units from the 50s & 60s and were sure that Monroe was driving each and every one of them. Please know that he trained us well and he will be missed.

I was sad to hear about your loss. I will always remember and be thankful for meeting Mr. Monroe Barrett. I met Mr. Barrett in Texas back in 1993 on a cotton farm where my dad and our family worked. Mr. Barrett was impressed with the work I was doing with cotton pickers and ask me if I would come to visit the East Moline Plant where they built cotton pickers. I told him that I couldn’t afford to pay for the trip at the time so he made arrangements to pay for my round trip ticket. I took the trip and needless to say I met a lot of great people and had a great visit of the plant. I was also surprised and not knowing that I was being recruited to work for Case IH at the time due to Mr. Barrett’s report back to his group leaders about our acquaintance. I accepted the offer three months later. I’ve been here at now called (CNH Industrial) for 23 years. I will always be thankful for what he has done for me. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

I will miss Monroe so much. He was a great mentor early in my career and was still giving me advice, and a little hell as recently as 1 1/2 yrs ago.
