Margaret Joan Rollosson

of Medford, OR

August 7, 1941 - November 14, 2016

Margaret Joan (Lemon) Rollosson, 75, died in hospice care at her home in Medford, Oregon, on Monday, November 14, 2016. Margaret was born August 7, 1941, in Cabool, Missouri, to Lex and Fannie Lemon. The family settled in Omaha and Margaret attended school in and graduated from Omaha High School in 1959. After high school, Margaret went on to study at Arkansas Polytechnic College where she met her future husband, Paul Rollosson, while both were participating in a little theater production of ''The Madwoman of Chaillot.'' They married Sept. 2, 1961, in Harrison. The couple moved to Fayetteville where her husband completed his engineering studies at the University of Arkansas. Upon his graduation, the two moved to Southern California where Paul began his career in aerospace engineering.

Margaret and Paul moved about the country to wherever her husband's career took them, from California to Florida to Texas and to Ohio. Along the way they began their family of four children, Matthew, Lisa Catherine, Sean and Patrick. In 1977, Margaret's husband took a position which took the family overseas to Tehran, Iran '''' a job that lasted only until the Iranian revolution in 1979. Following their evacuation from Iran, the family settled briefly in Southern California again before moving in 1980 to the Puget Sound area of Washington State. Following a two year relocation to Utah, they returned to Washington, settling in Seattle through her husband's retirement.

While living in Harrison following high school graduation, Margaret began a lifelong career in nursing, starting as an aide at Boone County Hospital. After marriage, she continued her nursing education, earning her certificates as licensed practical nurse and ultimately as a registered nurse, all while raising a family and relocating where her husband's career took them. Occasionally, she worked as a nursing temp, but more often found employment in the critical care unit of some local hospital. She retired from nursing in 2002.

Margaret loved gardening and reading. Her colorful, well-tended gardens always earned the praises of passers-by. She was an avid reader. Her library became crammed with the hundreds of books she had read; she never threw a book away! A third, unsung trait of hers was her generosity. Each year, she would purchase 100 new toys, which she donated at Christmastime to the Toys-For-Tots campaign or to the Salvation Army. She would also purchase multiple children's coats to be donated to the Coats for Kids drives. And she over-tipped to a fault.

Not content to stay at home, Margaret and Paul traveled when they could. In addition to dozens of domestic excursions, their vacation travels took them across the Atlantic on a half dozen occasions to Italy, France, England and Turkey. Margaret was an unrepentant shopper, and on their return from England on her last trip, they had to buy an additional roller bag to accommodate her accumulated souvenirs. In 2011, following Paul's retirement from his employment at The Boeing Company in 2006, the couple relocated to Medford, Oregon.

Margaret is survived by her husband Paul; their four children, Matthew (Holly) Rollosson of Tacoma, Washington, Lisa Catherine (Jeff) Rollosson Halbhuber of Sammamish, Washington, Sean (Houria) Rollosson of Hamburg, Germany and Patrick (Crystal) Rollosson of Kennewick, Washington; and eight grandchildren and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both brothers, and her sister

As was her wish, she was interred at Omaha Methodist Cemetery near her parents and brothers. A brief graveside service was held Friday, November 25, 2016, under the direction of Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
