Billy Lon Harrell

of Mayflower, AR

February 24, 1931 - September 23, 2016

Billy Lon Harrell, 85, left this earthly home September 23, 2016. He was at home in Mayflower with his wife of 63 years, Wilma Hogan Harrell, when he passed. Billy was born on February 24, 1931 to Ralph and Lilly Harrell.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Tracy (Mark) Hoggard and his son Lucky Harrell, all of Mayflower, one granddaughter, Summer Hoggard of Conway, two grandsons, Bryce (Katie) Hoggard of Mayflower and Cayden Harrell of Conway, and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Hoggard. He is also survived by four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, 34 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins, and many many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lilly Harrell, four brothers, Royce, Arcel, Ronald, and Frankie, one sister, Relma Lois, three brothers-in-laws, two sisters-in-laws and one nephew.

Billy was a farmer by trade most of his life and was named Faulkner County Farm Family of the Year in 2013. In his earlier days, he and his brother Royce ran the Gulf Station in Mayflower for many years, not only pumping gas and working on automobiles, but playing cards in the back room and pulling pranks on everyone. Many a person will recall all the hunting trips; rabbit hunting in Gillette, deer hunting on the Starr Farm, bird hunting on the Ranch or the Colorado elk/deer hunting, and if you didn't hunt with him, you were sure to have eaten his famous fried catfish or his male or female fudge. Those who knew Billy will understand the fudge. He enjoyed playing baseball almost as much as hunting. He and his brothers played baseball all over Faulkner County for many years. His giving heart, fun loving spirit and love of for his family and friends will be long remembered by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers: Larry Lute, Elmer McCall, Mark Harrell, Ronnie Weeks, Frank Harrell, Junior McGinty, Dale Willis, Roger Harrell.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Monday, September 26, 2016 and Funeral Service will be 10:00am Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home Conway, Arkansas. Interment will follow in Mayflower Cemetery.

We Just learned of Bill Harrel's passing. We are Russell Robert's daughter and son-in-law and met Bill long ago through Judge Roberts. Many good experiences with Bill hunting and fishing around Mayflower and near the river and eating catfish and quail. Bill became a good friend even though military service kept us far away from Conway and Faulkner County.

May God bless and comfort his family for we know that they will miss him. May our God in Heaven allow us to meet again one day. If there is fishing and hunting in Heaven, we are certain Bill will know where. God Bless him.

With Much affection,

Ed & Robin Priest

May this verse at, Revelation 21:3, 4 bring consolation to your family: “I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ‘Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.’” Please take comfort in this God given promise.

Uncle Billy was loved by all that knew him. I always knew he would say something to me to make me smile. As I watched him suffer his last days here, I couldn't help long for those days of him "picking" at me. I love you uncle billy and I'm so sorry you had to suffer so long. You never deserved to have such pain. I will always miss you until we meet again.

Words don't say how I feel about this man! He was my friend and as far as I can remember always was. We joked a lot, but we both knew that they were just that! When you saw Bill you better be ready to fire back, because you knew it was coming! So so many stories we have! I miss him already and will until the day I die! Rest in peace Buddy!!!!!!

Prayers for your family! Billy always had a smile on his face, except that time I drove that Jeep through his bean field. :) Everyone always wanted to go to Lucky's house, because Billy and Wilma were fun to be around. Praying for you all!
