March 12, 1937 - August 11, 2016

Jean Turner, age 79, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born March 12, 1937 in Ruleville, Mississippi to Greenlee and Bertha (Buckner) Slater.
Jean was passionate about doing all she could to make life better for others. She was known for her quilting skills, particularly for the making of teddy bear baby quilts, many of which remain family heirlooms. Along with her husband Harvey, she kept a large garden from which she canned much of the produce. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading her Bible and she will be long remembered for her cooking for large family gatherings, an activity in which she loved to be engaged.
Jean is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harvey, of the home, by three sons: Harvey ''Bubba'' (DeeDee) Turner, Jr. and Mike Turner, both of Mountain Home and Lee Turner of Velpen, Indiana, by one daughter, Cindy Turner of Mountain Home, as well as by grandchildren: Lindsey Turner-Sanders and husband, Michael, Blaine White, Carson White, Samara Turner and Tisha (Billy) Conaway. Five great grandchildren also survive her: Kendrick Sanders, Masen Sanders, Abby Conaway, Bill Conaway and Ellie Conaway. One sister-in-law, two nieces and two nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews also survive her. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles L Slater.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at Roller Funeral Home with Brother Gene Carson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Walker Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to White River Baptist Association Thrift Shop 9022 Highway 62 W., Flippin AR. 72634.

Harvey and family - I never had the privilege of meeting Jean, but my heart goes out to in your loss. You were a good friend when I came to Mountain Home, and you and your sidekick watched out for our welfare. I'm sure she was a fine lady - her brother Charles was a good man. My prayers are with you and your family.
