Donald Allen Schaeffer, age 90, of Omaha, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas. He was born July 26, 1925, in Amarillo, Texas, the son of George Washington and Texie Dolly (Evans) Schaeffer. Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Frances (Wallen) Schaeffer; a son, John Schaeffer; his daughter-in-law, Joyce Schaeffer; and a granddaughter, Frances Mae Schaeffer.

Donald was a member of Bible Baptist Church where he was a minister and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corp. He flew missions on a B-17 Bomber during World War II. He was a dairy farmer and a sawmill operator.

Donald is survived by a brother, Stanley Schaeffer, of Happy, Texas, his sons and daughter-in-law, Ted and Judy Schaeffer and Bill Schaeffer; his daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Gene Canter and Lawana and Charles Hacker. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and many friends.

Visitation was Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Funeral service was Monday, July 18, 2016, at Bible Baptist Church, Burlington, Arkansas, with Pastor Bill Schaeffer officiating.

Pallbearers were Austin Jordan, Teddy D. Schaeffer, Matthew Schaeffer, Richard Carver, Clayton Cryer, and John D. Carver.

Honorary pallbearers were family and friends and members of Bible Baptist Church.

Interment was in Omaha Methodist Cemetery.

Donald's family and friends believe he is a true Patriot. You are encouraged to wear "Red, White, and Blue" in his honor.

Papa Don was truly a inspiration when he taught a lesson you learned he was a treasure to many on this Earth here below and a very Patriotic Man no matter how bad this world turned he stood for the Red,the White and the Blue ..He was definitely a leader and guide in our lifetimes no one can fill his shoes and I imagine there won't ever be another one like him on this earth either ,I am truly proud I got to meet and know him because he was sure a good Don Schaeffer and I am going to miss him ...I know God has him now and Don is Home in Heaven and is Happy too...Someday I hope to meet him there too...

He was such a warrior for Christ not just for the military. I will always remember talking with Papa Don and all the hugs he gave us at church. Enjoy walking the streets of gold with our Savior. RIP. We love you and will miss you dearly. Sorry we cannot be there but you will always be remembered in our hearts. Prayers and hugs to the family.
