Robert Albert Baier, 95, went to his home in Heaven July 5, 2016. Born Nov. 10, 1920 in Kinsley, Kan., he was the first child of Albert and Mary Ann Weber Baier. He was a retired farm equipment mechanic at Pulaski Equipment Company, North Little Rock, and then at Maus Equipment in Morrillton and was a member of Oak Park Baptist Church in Little Rock.
Formerly of Morrilton, he lived with his daughter and son-in-law for nine years before moving in April to Lakewood Nursing and Rehab in North Little Rock, the town where he raised his three daughters.
"Daddy Bob" was always a good man who would literally give anyone the shirt off his back. But he knew he could never be good enough to get to Heaven, so at the age of 83, he gave his heart to his Savior, Jesus Christ and was baptized at age 87.
He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and helped with many building projects, including the recreation area around Lake Sylvia near Perryville, Ark. During World War II, he was an Army Medic in the European Theater was awarded several bronze stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three wives - Gladys Willeen (Jana) Keel Baier, Maxine Bailey Baier and Bernice Ridling Andrews Baier; three brothers - Lawrence Baier, Jimmie Baier and Charles Ray Baier; three sisters, Irene Ridling, Dorothy Lilly and Ella Mae Baier; and two grandsons, Christopher Michael McCall and Sean Patrick Spriggs.
His survivors include three daughters, Diane Spriggs and her husband, Pat of Hensley; Barbara McCall and her husband, Joe of Sherwood; and Trish Seidenschwarz and her husband, Dale of Little Rock; a brother, Tommy Baier of Guy; two sisters, Joyce Standridge of Little Rock and Mary Knisley of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren: Bobby Spriggs, Trina Medlock, Holly McCall, Allison Brigman, Adrian Brigman and nine great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Roller Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209, (501) 455-5800. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2016 at Oak Park Baptist Church, 8200 Flintridge Road, Little Rock, with Dr. Gary O'Neal and Pastor Jim Ward officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Robertstown Cemetery in Hattieville with military honors.
His eldest daughter, with whom he lived, is the editor of the Baptist Trumpet and often wrote about him in her editorial column. Daddy Bob always said that "he waited his whole life to get famous" - and he loved it! Therefore (and at his request), in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Trumpet, P.O. I remember Daddy Bob as kind, good-natured and endlessly patient with silly teenaged girls hanging out in his house. He made the world a better place for everyone who knew him. I'm thinking of y'all and hoping time and memories bring you peace.

Bob ("Papaw") and his late wife, Bernice ("Memaw"), helped raise me, and I cannot express how great that impact has been on my life. Papaw's optimism and endearing personality were infectious. I still remember snapping peas with him in his garden as a kid, attentively listening for the next joke or interesting fact he was going to share with me. I am thankful to know his life is just now truly beginning with His Father.
May God bring strength and peace to everyone who is grieving his loss. And may this world have more men like "papaw" in it.
