of Mountain View, AR
September 21, 1935 - June 17, 2016
Van Richard Rosa was born September 21, 1935 in Little Rock Arkansas. He departed this life on June17, 2016 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was a lifelong resident of Stone County. Van graduated from Mountain View High School in 1953. He attended the University of Arkansas and was a graduate of UAMS College of Pharmacy. Van was the fourth generation of Rosa pharmacists to practice in Mountain View.
Van married the love of his life Sharon Nixon Rosa, in 1964. They owned and operated Van's Drug Store for twenty-six years.
Van had many hobbies during his lifetime. He was an avid Razorback fan and loved attending the games with his daughters. He and Sharon raised Santa Gertrudis cattle for many years. His farm was home to horses, dogs, cats, ducks, and geese. He loved to watch his favorite horse, Girlfriend, graze in the pasture. Following a serious farming accident Van developed a love for Cowboy Poetry. He published a book of his poetry as the result of this passion.
After recovering from a broken neck, Van began spreading the Gospel to the utter most parts of the earth. He made twenty-three foreign mission trips. His travels took him to Cuba, China, Philippines, India, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Nepal.
Van is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; sons Rick (Judy) Rosa and Curt (Donna) Rosa; daughters Paula (Tim) Gammill and Drs. Gina (Wayne) Hudec; grandchildren Aarika (Tyler) Jackson, Makayla Passmore, Brice (Cindy) Rosa, Sydney (Christopher) Flud, Brayden Rosa, Lacey (Aaron) Vanemburg, Callie (Brad) Taylor and Indy Hudec; great-grandchildren Adelynn Jackson, Layla Vanemburg, Tucker Taylor, Tate Van Taylor, and Bradlee Brooke Taylor.
Van was preceded in death by his parents, Von and Grace Lackey Rosa and brother Bob Rosa.
A celebration of Van's life will be held on Monday, June 20 at The Sanctuary Church in Mountain View. We know he is whistling as he moon walks on the streets of gold.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family requests donations be made to The Sanctuary Church or Stone County Humane Society.
The Sweetest Dearest Man I know...I sure will truly miss him every Sunday Morning at Church and Church get togethers...His sweet spirit is now in Heaven taking care of God's Horses was his wish...
So sorry to read about Van's passing. The Zygowicz family from Chicago wishes to extend condolences, thoughts and prayers to both the Rosa and Nixon families.
Van, I will always remember your smile and happy greeting every time we came into the pharmacy. Your professional pharmaceutical support to Mtn View was always a comfort. We knew we could count on you in this small town.
I will also remember all of your support to Mtn View athletics and seeing you on the sideline supporting Rick and the rest of us on the team during the football, basketball, and track competitions. You made a difference and left a legacy here Van. RIP.

Mr Van was always a guy who could brighten the darkest of days for those around him . He always had s joyful spirit and the love of Christ always shined through his smile. I don't believe he ever met a stranger. You always knew when Mr Van was around by the song he was whistling and the " Why Hello how are yall doing" greeting.. All of us here at the Co-Op will miss him and forever he will be in our hearts and whistling in our memories
God bless you. He will be missed.
Sharon, our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. What a wonderful man that loved life and the hogs. He always made you smile. We will miss that at the shows, but we know that he is in paradise today.

Sharon, and the rest of the family: We are so sorry to hear
of Van's passing. We enjoyed knowing Van and your families since we were in Stone County.
So sad to hear of the news of Van's death. A fine fellow who was always gracious and kind to all. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace......
We are so blessed to have had Van in our lives these past 20 years. Such a sweet sweet spirit. We love you both and will forever hold you in our hearts. There has never been a doubt that Van would be at the right hand of God someday – and though we weren't ready to see him go, we rest assured of his homecoming. Selfishly we wish he were still here with us, offering prayer before the horse show, his wonderful devotions on the occasional Sunday horse show and his testimony of faith. We love the stories, especially the ones about the love of his life, Sharon, and will remember them always. Thank you Sharon for sharing your lives with us - We love you.
Waiting to someday enjoy ornamental food in heaven with you!
Love,
Chuck, Pat & JJ
So sorry for your loss. Prayers for God to send comfort to the family. Van's life touched many and his passing leaves a large void, but hold on to the wonderful memories. I was not blessed to have had Van as a friend, but the memories I have of him were good ones. He always seemed happy and that joy rippled out and touched all those who came near. God bless.
I want to express my sincere sympathy for you Sharon and all of the family. I remember how Van and you were the first ones we told in the Hospital parking lot about Ronnie's health problems and we all prayed right there, and now it has not been long and now Van is with Ronnie on those streets of Gold. I will pray for you to have comfort in dealing with your loss but Heaven's gain.
