Nellie Cozette Campbell

of Witts Springs, AR

May 16, 1917 - April 22, 2016

Nellie Cozette (Drewry) Campbell was born in Witts Srings, Arkansas on May 16, 1917, one of eight children born to Benjamin Drewry and Maude (Sullins) Drewry, and passed away on April 22, 2016 at Marshall, Arkansas, at the age of 98 years.

Cozette married C.H. ''Charlie'' Campbell of Snowball, Arkansas, in 1939. They were married 68 years and had three sons: Devon, Afton and Kenny.

In 1936, at age 19, Cozette began teaching school, with only having to pass the Arkansas State Teachers test to qualify, and later getting a college degree in education. Teaching was her love and she devoted 39 years to teaching elementary children, retiring in 1979. After completing this first career, she immediately embarked on a second one, where she turned her sewing expertise into a custom drapery business. Her beautiful handiwork can be found in homes across Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Cozette was a member of the Arkansas Democrats, the Searcy County Retired Teachers Association, and the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. She held positions in the Searcy County Farm Bureau, Arkansas Farm Bureau and the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association. She belonged to Witts Springs Community Church and gave her life to the Lord in 1951. Cozette was a life-long resident of Searcy County, Arkansas, except for six years living in Wright County, Missouri.

Cozette was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Maude Drewry; her siblings, Gerotha Stewart, Virl Drewry, Ima Arms, Floys (Pete) Drewry, Marcella Johns, Kenneth Drewry, and an infant brother who was stillborn; her husband, C.H. (Charlie) Campbell; a daughter-in-law, Melanie (Hall) Campbell; and two grandsons, Chris Campbell and Colin Campbell.

She is survived by her three sons, Devon Campbell and wife Faye of Hartville, Missouri, Afton Campbell and Diane Gray of Harrison, Arkansas and Kenny Campbell of Marshall, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren, John Campbell, Carl Campbell, Kelli Larson, Cyndi Campbell, LeAnne Lake, Rob Campbell, Chuck Campbell and Jodi Riggs; 14 great grandchildren, Nicole Jones, Rick Weaver, Craig Campbell, Kristin Kennedy, Justin Campbell, Melinda Logan, Mackenzie Campbell, Meg Larson, Erica Malsbury, Landen Campbell, Kellen Campbell, Kendrick Campbell, Charlie Campbell and Bryce Bonneson; 2 great-great grandchildren, Ladd Logan and Elyse Welch.

Funeral services for Cozette will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 29, 2016 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Jim Arnold Jr. officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Witts Springs Cemetery in Witts Springs, Arkansas. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers

I have treasured memories of my fifth grade year with "Mrs. Campbell" as my teacher. She was always gracious, carried herself with such a regal manner, and gave us, her students, a vision for doing great things.

We pray "grace and peace" to the family.
