John W. Eldridge, 93, of Batesville, Arkansas (formerly of Searcy and California), passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

He was born in Big Cabin, Oklahoma to George and Mary Eldridge, now deceased and formerly of California.

John served his country in the U. S. Army and was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Searcy. He was the loving husband of Bobbye Burge Eldridge, who preceded him in death.

John was very active with the Mason's. He was a 32º past master of the Masonic Lodge in Oakland, California, a member of the Little Rock Scottish Rites bodies, and a former member of the York Rite bodies of Batesville. John also had been a past Illustrious Master of Gilden council #61 and High Priest of Batesville Chapter #61. He was Eminent Commander of St. Elmo Commandery #13, a past patron of Brady Chapter #634 of the Order of the Eastern Star; a past patron of Ruth Chapter #910 Eastern Star of Batesville; and a member of the VFW Post #10472 of Desha.

For the last few years of his life, his favorite place to be was with his Bible class and friends on Sunday mornings in Searcy.

John is survived by his sister, Nan Hendrickson and husband, Nick; nephew, George Hendrickson and wife, Candy; and a great-nephew and niece, all of California. He is also survived by a dear friend, Martha Rueter, of Batesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

The funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel with Joel Krogen officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
