of Little Rock, AR

March 1, 1931 - April 17, 2016

Carl F. (Fred) Clark was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 1, 1931, the son of Robert and Annette Clark. He passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016.

He graduated from Little Rock Senior High in 1950, was a member of All-State Football Team and played for the ''Wilson Tigers.'' He attended Little Rock University and was a member of Trojan Football Team.

Fred was a resident of Cammack Village for fifty years. During that time he was active in the city government at various times serving as Recorder/Treasurer and Alderman. Fred was a volunteer fireman for Cammack Village Fire Department and chairman of the Fire Commission for several years.

For twenty-plus years he was in charge of Cammack Pool and Parks and watched all the neighborhood kids grow up. He would still see them occasionally as grownups and they all still called him ''Mr. C.'' Fred spent numerous hours every summer working at Cammack Pool getting the pool ready for all the kids to swim and enjoy. It was a passion of his and he took the pool to heart. Fred's daughter, Melissa managed the pool for several years and his grandson, Clark worked at the pool for a couple of summers.

Fred served 4 ½ years in U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was retired from Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department after thirty-seven years in the Material Division.

He was predeceased by his parents; twin brother, Bill; brother, Bob and sister, Martha. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Barbara Cooley Clark; his daughter, Melissa Clark Norwood and husband, Jason; four grandchildren, Clark Van Hook (20), Caroline Hartsell (9), Jesse (13), and Julia (11) Norwood. He is also survived by a brother, Tom and sister, Susan Bell.

Pappaw loved his grandkids more than life itself. He would do anything in the world for them. He always gave the best hugs ever! We will miss you! Love you, Daddy!

The family will receive friends at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR (501-224-8300), from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Thursday, April 21, 2016. Interment will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the Cammack Village Fred Clark Pool Fund, 2710 N. McKinley, Cammack Village, AR 72207 or any charity of your choice.

I am so sorry that such a sweet wonderful man is not with us anymore. His stories and the memories that he always had to share are something that I will always cherish. He will be missed by many more than me for this exact reason. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the family and friends of Frd Clark, I would like to express my deepest sympathies to you for the loss of your beloved Fred May your days ahead be softened by memories of Fred at their best. Unfortunately all of us suffer the pain that death brings. Even Jesus was brought to tears when his friend Lazarus died. (John 11:35). But just as he raised his dear friend from the dead, he has promised to do the same for all he wants. We too can have that hope by turning to the God who gave his Son for us. (John 3:16) He has promise to bring death and sadness to an end forever. Please read Rev 21:3-4
