September 24, 1931 - April 10, 2016

Jimmey F. Mahaffey, 84, of Batesville, formerly of Violet Hill, died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his home.

He was born in Fisher County, Texas on September 24, 1931 to J. R. Mahaffey and Nettie (Donham) Mahaffey. He retired from Rancher's Cotton Oil in Fresno, California, as a First Operator.

From the age of 16, he made a good living and provided for his family. He was always giving to the needy and the food banks. His favorite music was Christian songs. Jimmey enjoyed playing board games with his family as well as sight-seeing road trips. He also enjoyed wild life and bird watching.
His family describes him as a very loving, big-hearted man and a loving husband and dad.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty (McNail) Mahaffey of the home; three step-sons, Ron Ferrell and his wife, Linda, of Visalia, California, John Ferrell of Branson, Missouri, Phil Ferrell and his wife, Karen, of Hanford, California; one daughter, Patricia Thornton of Auburn, Washington; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother, James ''Jimmy'' Roy Mahaffey Jr. of South Lake, Texas; and two sisters, Jewel Davis of Abilene, Texas, and Louise Davis of Grapevine, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

A private burial will be held under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
