Freda Merle Smith

of Greenbrier, AR

August 17, 1927 - April 5, 2016

Freda Merle Wilson Smith took her final cruise on April 5, 2016. Those who knew her remember her as being full of life and laughter! What a blessing to be 88 years old and think you are too young to go to the senior citizens center! She loved sailing on country music cruises and always shared with the stars that she lived ''right down the road'' from them. She loved playing the 25 cent slot machines and never failed to walk away with winnings. Freda loved sports, from sneaking out to play basketball as a teenager, to a bowling career that spanned 50 years including many fun filled trips to tournaments. A gifted beautician for over 72 years, she took such pride in the care she gave to all of her customers. She styled her last customer on March 24, 2016.
She loved honeybuns and coffee for breakfast, Mexican food for dinner and a salad was never complete without a packet or two of sweet ''˜n' low. She loved Fox News and never failed to share her strong opinions regarding Hillary Clinton. A perfect evening at home was spent cheering on the Razorbacks or watching In the Heat of the Night.
She will be missed most by her daughter and constant companion Donna Milam. Freda was preceded in death by her husband A. R. Smith. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Becky Crum (Tom), granddaughter Tonia Ellis(Steve), grandson Frank Frego, great-granddaughter Rayne Cottrell and grand dog Heidi Crum.
Her life was touched by many great friends, step children, step grandchildren, and customers through the years. Honoring the wishes of our mother and grandmother, a celebration of her life will be held in her home in Greenbrier on April 9, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to a charity of your choice.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Freda was a special person to me and I enjoyed all the times I spent with her whether bowling gambling, or her fixing my hair over the years. She certainly will be missed by all who knew her.
