May 15, 1930 - February 2, 2016

L.C. ''Buck'' Cates, 85, passed away on February 2, 2016 at Ozark Health Nursing Center. He was a lifelong resident of Shirley, Arkansas, was a Baptist and a member of Shirley General Baptist Church.

Buck was born on May 15, 1930 to the late, William Devey Cates and Maggie Violet White Cates.

He was married to Anna Lea Gibbons Cates on December 24, 1947. They shared 56 years of marriage, and to this union, two children were born, Debra Cates Williams and Brenda Cates Foster.

Buck was preceded in death by his precious wife, his parents, three sisters; Glenna Ruth Cates, Joy Cates Dollar, and Blanche Cates Ward, two brothers; Lanny Cates, and Marvin Cates, one granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Bradford, and one son-in-law, Jerry Wayne ''Pepper'' Foster.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters; Debra Williams (Dewey) of Shirley, Brenda Cates Foster of Mt. View, Arkansas, six grandchildren; Tammy Loeschner, Brent Williams, Stephanie Younger, Kimberly Habelitz, Kyle Foster, Kayla Foster, ten great-grandchildren; Sara Thomas, Peyton Loeschner, Madison Younger, Josie Williams, Chase Habelitz, Gunnar Williams, Reina Foster, Landon Foster, Reigan Foster, Hadley Foster, and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Community Church in Shirley. Interment will follow at the Settlement Cemetery in Shirley.

I'm sorry to hear about Buck. We were friends all through School.And according to our Baskett Ball Coach, Buck and I were the two best Guards He ever had.Ofcourse at that time Shirley was a very small School.
