Julia Sue Hook

of England, AR

December 28, 1939 - January 20, 2016

Julia Sue Holman Hook was born December 28, 1939, in Jackson County, Arkansas, and passed January 20, 2016.

She was the oldest of four children born to the union of Julian C. Holman and Martha Aitkens Holman, both retired school teachers of the England School District.

After graduating England High School in 1958, she joined the Air Force and then resided in upstate New York and subsequently moved back to England, Arkansas, to become a branch manager at the William F. Foster library in England.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter: Jo Anne (Billy) White of England and three grandchildren: Julie (Jared) Sickles of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Matthew (Adena) White of Conway, and Kevin White of England. She had one great-granddaughter: Katherine Rose Sickles, and a host of family and friends.

Her passions included reading, learning, history, cards and family gatherings.

A visitation will be held at Roller England Funeral Home (501) 842-3939 in England on Saturday, January 23 from 2-4 pm.

Ms. Julia was a wonderful lady. She is one of the reasons I am still a reading junkie to this day. Even when I didn't want to seem "dorky" with my head in a book, the library with Ms. Julia was a place I could hide out and read the classics.

Mrs. Hook was one of my favorite people. I worked for her at the library one summer in between college. She was such a great lady, and I'll miss her!
