Georgia Vogel

of Mountain View, AR

May 22, 1932 - January 19, 2016

Georgia Vogel, 83, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed quietly early Tuesday morning with family by her side.

Georgia was born in 1932 in Alliance, Ohio, where she grew up and attended Mount Union College. Georgia met and married Richard H. Vogel, now deceased, who was earning his business degree on the GI Bill at Mount Union College. She graduated with a Teaching Degree. While raising her four children, Georgia continued her love of education and completed her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She worked in Logansport, Indiana for the YM-YWCA and the Logansport School Administration. Georgia enjoyed a long career in supporting others. Prior to retiring, she held counseling positions in Batesville, Mountain View, and Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Georgia loved her family, traveling, and also relished her scenic view at home on the White River. She never shied away from adventure or challenges, including pulling a camper to Alaska and back one summer, traveling in Europe and China, and attending a YM-YWCA international meeting in Africa as a US delegate. Her ability to face any challenge, sense of adventure and independence, and devotion to family are traits she instilled in her children and grandchildren.

Georgia is survived by her four children, William H. Vogel and his wife, Cheri of Fort Lauderdale, Florida (children, Ian, Broc and Brenna); Katherine E. Roberts, of Mt. View, Arkansas (daughter, Ryne); Virginia E. Medford and her husband David of Little Rock, Arkansas (children, Lisa and Michael); and Robert F. Vogel and his wife Betty of Marietta, Georgia (children, Spencer and Avery). In addition to eight grandchildren, Georgia's legacy continues in five great-grandchildren, Lenox, Mance, Julia, Maisie, and Neo. Georgia is also survived by her brother, Forest ''Fo'' Shollenberger of Woodbury, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her father, Forest J. Shollenberger, who was a professor of Physics at Mount Union College, and her mother, Gladys who also attended Mount Union College.

A private ceremony will be held with the family. Friends are welcome to stop by the house. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgia's honor may be made to your local animal shelter.
