Gladys J. Jones Hill, age 97, of Western Grove passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015. The daughter of Ermon and Florida Edens Jones, she was born in Yardell, Arkansas, and was a lifelong resident of Newton County Arkansas.
Gladys was many things in her life. Besides being a wonderful wife and mother, Gladys also loved to fish on the Buffalo River. Gardening was an event for Gladys as she would can everything she grew in her garden. Gladys was also a nurse, and when she retired, she made time to sit with people to keep them company. Gladys was also a W.A.C. in World War 2, and was the oldest living veteran in Newton County Arkansas.
Gladys married Francis Mose Hill on May 25, 1946. They raised two children together, daughter Francis Mozelle (Hill) and husband Darrel McBain of Wisconsin, and son J.D. Hill and wife Connie of Western Grove.
Gladys is survived by four grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and one sister
Visitation was Monday, December 14, 2015, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Funeral service was Tuesday, December 15, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Pastor Derwin Martin officiating.
Pallbearers were Dusty Verdegan, Dean Renfro, Ralph Jones, Craig King, Ryan Jones and Austin Tabor.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Renfro, Eric Jones, Brady Tabor and Brice Verdigan.
Interment was in Sand Hill Cemetery

Sorry for your great loss. I have known Gladys all my life and always thought so much of her. We had long conversations on the phone, anything I wanted to know about the Hasty area I would call Gladys, and she would answer my question. I will miss her.
