Hulen Dale Quattlebaum, Sr. was born November 30, 1929, on Culpepper Mountain in Clinton, AR and died November. 26, 2015, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Faye Quattlebaum and sister Reba Warrienne Quattlebaum. He is also survived by sisters, Danna Lawrence of Clinton and Sue Williams of Fairfield Bay.

Hulen was a member of Levy Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years. He was in the Army National Guard for 33 years, retiring as a Lt Colonel. During his years as an educator, he coached at Scotland, Leslie, England and Harrison. His England girls team won the J.T. Robinson basketball tournament in 1957. His Junior boys' basketball team at Harrison won the state tournament in 1963. After being a junior high principal and coach, he moved to the high school and took over a declining football program. Starting out with 14 players he persuaded others to come out. His first year in 1964 the team went 2-6. By 1969 the team went 8-1-1 and played for the conference championship.

Hulen started a successful Traveler's Insurance business, and eventually worked full-time in the National Guard, became a founding Instructor at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) at Camp Robinson. Hulen taught Leadership courses at NGPEC until 1985. From there he moved to the Arkansas State Department of Education where he worked to develop leadership and stronger curriculum. Coeita and boys:
I was saddened to read about Hulen. I believe I was in college when he came to coach at Leslie, but my brother Joe was always complimentary of his relationship with Hulen and considered him a major influence on his life.
Coeita, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Coach was a great man. He was also my insurance man for a time. When my oldest son was born, coach came to visit and brought a gift. I used to go to his insurance office on Saturday mornings and talk sports with him. Loved him dearly.

Coach Q was so much more than my Football Coach. He was a Mentor. He got me started in a life long love of Martial Arts, by his teaching me Judo for a few years. My life was definitely enhanced by Coach Q. Rest in Peace Coach.

So sorry to hear, Steve, Storm, Rick, and Russ. I'll never forget how enjoyable your dad was when I was a kid hanging around your house. I'll also never forget him driving me and Steve over for an American Legion game in, I think, Fayetteville in about 1972. He laid into a curve in a good ways, and said, "Boys, that's called cuttin' a curve. You'll probably do that a few times in life." Much love to your mother and all of you.

What a wonderful man and school leader!
I was fortunate to be a high school student at Harrison in the 70's and know him and his precious family.
Then Dennis and I were very fortunate to have taught and coached at Bergman and witnessed first hand Mr. Quattlebaum's true leadership abilities.
What an outstanding man!
He will truly be missed by so many!
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

LTC Q was someone that I admired and truly enjoyed working with (NGPEC). He showed interest in helping me adjust to being an instructor for the world-wide audiance that came to PEC.
He was always playing little jokes on me (new guy) but made me feel welcome and part of the team. Yes, I could tell very early that he was a Christian and a man that loved his wife and boys dearly. I have often thought about him over the years. May God bless thr Q family.

My sweet family, my heart breaks at the thought of Uncle Hulen being gone. Thank you for sharing him with us. He taught me many things over the years but the biggest thing is the love he had for his family. After daddy passed he seemed to be there whenever I needed a shoulder to cry on or just someone to tell me I could make it.. Not to mention the numerous times he helped mom. He encouraged me to continue my education and the times when I thought I would never see the end of the tunnel he would encourage me to continue on. My first broken heart he was there to tell me all men were not that way and not give up on finding a good Christian man... (LOL) Life will be very empty without him... but great is his reward. He left a very good Christian example for us to follow. I was blessed to have him as an uncle... Thought and prayers with you all.

Our deepest sympathies to all the family. We have numerous memories of Hulen. Bill remembers him as Coach, teacher, principle, and National Guard Colonel. I remember all of these, but most importantly as my parents close friend and the many Sunday nights following church that our families gathered together! He was truly a mentor and special person in our lives during the time he lived in Harrison.
