James ''Ronnie'' York Sr., 71, of Strawberry, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at a nursing home in Batesville.
He was born in Campbell, Missouri on August 18, 1944 to James ''Jack'' York and Ann (Jarrett) York. He was a salesman at Frito Lay for 29 ½ years before he retired.
An Army veteran, he was proud to serve his country having served in Viet Nam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the D.A.V. He had a soft spot for all animals but he also liked to hunt and fish. He was also a member of the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (McGill) York of Strawberry; a son, James Ron York Jr. and his wife, Shelly, of Pleasant Plains; a daughter, Jennifer York of Wasilla, AK and Step-Daughter, Debi Fidler and her husband, P-Jay, of Los Angeles, CA; his mother, Ann York of Batesville; three grandchildren, Sydney York, Sarah York and Hunter York; and three step-grandchildren, London Fidler, Allie Fidler, and Olivia Fidler. He is also survived by a sister, Suzy Maxwell and her husband, John T. of Jacksonville, AR.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, John York.
Pallbearers will be James York Jr., Hunter York, Jonathan York, Thomas Jones, Doug Maxwell, and Jody Maxwell.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Roller-Crouch Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Aaron Maxwell officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
