March 21, 1931 - November 12, 2015

Jimmy Rex Tinkle, 84, departed this life in his home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 12, 2015 surrounded by his family. Jim was born at Hell Creek, a small community near Mountain View on March 21, 1931, to Roscoe Payton and Mable Lucinda Dobbins Tinkle. He was saved at age 17 and has served the Lord in various capacities, including Sunday School teacher, deacon, and church builder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lawton (Tony) J.R., John, and Billy Joe Tinkle. Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Fern Irene Lancaster Tinkle of the home; one brother, R.P. Tinkle and wife Karen; one daughter, Cindy and husband Tony Conley of Mountain View; one son, Andy and wife Telisha Tinkle of Mountain View; five grandchildren: Heather Conley Pruitt and husband, Michael, Nathaniel Conley, Jace, Trace, and Mace Tinkle; and four great-grandchildren: Logan, Riley, Jaxon, and Ryder Pruitt and a host of nieces and nephews .
With his love for airplanes, Jim joined the Air Force right out of high school serving as an airplane mechanic. After his discharge from the service as a Staff Sergeant, he moved back to Mountain View and worked with his dad in the timber business. He then became a chicken grower and began working at the Con-Agra Feed Mill in maintenance. When the mill closed, he began working at Stone County Medical Center until he retired in 1995.
In his spare time, he loved being in his wood-working shop, building and inventing different items for his friends and family. He also loved reading the Bible, train and airplane histories, and religious studies. Jim loved his family, particularly his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He looked forward to visits from them, especially on Sundays when they were all gathered together.

I was saddened to read of Jim's death. In early 1969 I met Jim, his brother Tony and their partner, Jack Teague when I first traveled to Mt. View as a cement salesman. They had erected a ready-mix concrete plant and they gave me an order for a truckload of cement.. After that, they purchased all their cement from me and we became good friends,.My sincere condolences go to Jim's family.
