Ireta Lard, 83 of Bono, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 7, from the Flo and Phil Hospice House. Mrs. Lard was born Ireta Kaffka on October 10, 1931 to J A and Ruth Kaffka in the Herman Community. Mrs. Lard married Ray Lard on July 23, 1949. She was a homemaker and held various jobs including Frolic Foot Ware and General Electric. Ireta loved flowers and birds and spent time nurturing both. She loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals but her greatest joy was her family.

Mrs. Lard was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lard; her parents; six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three children, Kathy (Mark) Lambie, Dennis (Fran) Lard and Eddie (Shirley) Lard all of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Brittney Watkins of Jonesboro, Derek Lard of Cordova, TN and Hunter Lard of Little Rock, great grandchildren, Vada and Violet Watkins; brother, Jay Kaffka and sister Margie Scarbrough of Jonesboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 9th at 11:00 AM at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service. Officiating will be Rev. Shawn Brandon and burial will be at Herman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Mark Lambie, Derek Lard, Hunter Lard, Justin Watkins, Randy Lard and Gaylon Pierce.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Bernard's Hospital, Health South, Lexington Place and the Flo and Phil Hospice House for the care that we have received for the last 5 months.

Lasting memorial may be sent to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, Ar. 72401

My Aunt Bertha Ireta Kaffka Lard was to me the sweetest kindly lady and she never turn down anyone that needed her help. I was one of those that needed help when I was a teenager she & Uncle Ray took me in their home fed me and gave a place to stay. Ireta was the best cooks in the world Sunday dinner was always GREAT.
Now God has saidI have loaned Ireta to the world now I want her back with me.My Aunt will be missed but never forgotten.
