Doris Jean Busby

of Harrison, AR

April 19, 1931 - September 22, 2015

Doris Jean Marshall Saylors Busby, age 84, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Hospice House in Harrison after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born April 19, 1931, in Olvey, Arkansas, the daughter of Brice and Pearl (Manley) Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents;
her sister, Ruby Marshall Cochran; her aunts, Dorothy Cochran and Audrey Marshall Patch; and great-granddaughter, Maggie Lee Saylors.

Doris Jean worked for many years at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas and for nearly 20 years at Levi Strauss in Harrison. She was a skilled seamstress who made clothes, often without even a pattern. She loved to crochet, winning numerous blue ribbons at the county and district fair, for her creations. Doris Jean always had the tidiest yard around and was known for her colorful "bottle" tree.

Doris Jean is survived by her husband, Homer Busby; her children, Monro (Laura) Saylors of Harrison, Vanna Sue (Larry) Stone of Harrison, Glenda Kay ''Katie'' (Leo) Saylors of Lead Hill, and Peggy Busby; her grandchildren, Sarah (Rick) Cooper, Alex Saylors, Donro Saylors, Joseph Saylors, Jason Smith, April Smith, Ria Busby and Will Ashworth; her great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Smith, Tristan Smith, Stevin Saylors, Rebecca Saylors, Eric Robertson, TaDessa Robertson and Chase Saylors; and her great-great-granddaughter, Tatum Beard.

Doris Jean is also survived by her sister, Ruth Johnson, of Bolivar, Missouri; her nephews, Rev. Jerry (Donna) Baughman and Mike (Carol) Cochran; her nieces, Onetia (Wayne) Owen and Joy (Barry) Russell; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special cousins, C.E. and Mule Marshall.

Visitation was Friday, September 25, 2015, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Funeral was Saturday, September 26, 2015, with Rev. Jerry Baughman officiating.

Burial was in Milum Cemetery in Lead Hill, Arkansas.

Pallbearers were Donro Saylors, Stevin Saylors, Alex Saylors, Rick Cooper, Tristan Smith and Daniel Owen.
