Jeanette McDonald (MeMc)

of Benton, AR

December 8, 1923 - July 15, 2015

Jeanette McDonald (MeMc), 91, died Wednesday, July 15, in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Described by a dear friend as a woman who fiercely loved her family, she enjoyed cooking country-style meals, especially her famous fried chicken, for her children and grandchildren every Sunday. Many of the home cooked meals included fresh vegetables from her own garden that she tended even until her last days.

Born Dec. 8, 1923, the Marmaduke, Ark. native often reminisced of the gardening tricks she learned from her dad on her farm and picking cotton in the heat of the summer. Her Arkansas pride was evident by the numerous Razorback decorations positioned throughout her home and her vocal spirit about the Hogs performance. She kept a pristine home and enjoyed visiting the beauty shop every Friday, followed by a trip to the grocery store and the dollar store. She also loved hosting yard sales, decorating, and holidays-especially Christmas which always required a live tree adorned with an array of keepsake ornaments. She treasured and treated her two dogs Dusty and Prada like children and was guilty of occasionally taking them for photos with Santa.

She is preceded in death by her husband J.B. McDonald and son Ronnie McDonald. Survivors include daughters Gynola (Rick) Bratton of Benton and Robbie Lee McDonald of Conway; her grandchildren Brian (Jessica) McDonald of Bentonville, Jason (Laura) McDonald of Benton, Cole Bratton of Little Rock, Trish (Jackson) Villines of Harrison, and Mason Bratton of Benton, as well as, great grandchildren Dylan, Hayley, Macy, Avery Jo, and Annistyn. She also had a number of nieces and nephews and looked forward to their visits.

MeMc will be truly missed by her family and friends. She demonstrated a work-ethic and family values that are becoming increasingly rare in today's society and would be the first to tell anyone that family is the key to life's most incredible blessings.

She supported Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas and the Humane Society of Saline County; however, in lieu of flowers, the family asks for her to be remembered by sharing a Sunday dinner with those you love the most.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2015 and funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday July 20, 2015 both at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home, 306 S. Main, Benton, Arkansas 72015 (501) 315-4047. Interment will follow at Smith Rosemont Cemetery.

What a lovely person and great lady. It was my joy and blessing to have known this beautiful woman.
You knew what was important to her within minutes of knowing her. She adored her family and her sweet pets(although I doubt these companions knew they were dogs). She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee. I think because we both loved good coffee, that made us instant friends. It was my pleasure to have her in my home for a couple Thanksgivngs. I will treasure these memories. Enjoy heaven MeMc. We will all join you one day and hopefully enjoy many more cups of good coffee together. Many prayer going up for all the family and friends, esp.Gynola and my beautiful dtr in law, Trish..Love you all. Judy

Trish and Gynola. I am so sorry for your loss. I feel like I really knew Memc on a personal level by listening to Trish talk about her through the years. I know she meant a lot to Lindsey too. My prayer is for God to wrap his loving arms around this special family and hold them close during this difficult time and the days to follow.
