Marvin Samuel ''Shorty'' Wilbanks, age 89, of Benton, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015. He was born October 1, 1925 in Smackover, AR to the late Robert Wilbanks and Myrtle (Byrd) Wilbanks. He retired after 30 years of service as groundskeeper from Benton Utilities September 29, 1987. He was a very faithful member of New Summit Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Trudie Elaine Wilbanks, one brother, Dois Wilbanks, and four sisters, Stella Holmes, Kernie Bowers, Bonita Sheridan, and Helen Taylor.

He is survived by his two daughters, Terri Adams and Tina Thommason, both of Oklahoma; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Wilbanks (JoAnn); two sisters, Betty Reynolds and Emma Blake; his niece, Patsy Collins, who has cared for him for the past ten years, and many other nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Pastor Matthew West officiating. Interment will follow at Fairplay Cemetery in the Fairplay Community. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Turner, Scott Thornberry, Robbie Sorrells, Bobby Jones, Ken Miller, Oscar Sorrells, and Michael Taber.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Sunday.

Although we lost touch throughout the years will always
remember his contagious smile and soft spoken voice.
I wish I had visited with him when I was in town.
RIP Marvin, that is what I remember you by.

I worked with Shorty many years ago at the water dept. Shorty was a good guy. I am sorry for your loss.
