Eric William Stoiber

of Little Rock, AR

December 3, 1959 - June 27, 2015

Eric William Stoiber departed this world Saturday, June 27, 2015 and is now at eternal peace. He loved his family and will be sorely missed by his loving wife Jana Johnson Stoiber and his daughters, Megan Stoiber Pierce (Todd) and Sarah Elizabeth Stoiber.

Eric was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania December 3, 1959. He graduated from R. Nelson Snider High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and completed his B.S. Degree at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He worked for Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne before moving to Little Rock, where he worked at Bailey Properties, LLC for 20 years. He held the title of Executive Vice President and was respected by his colleagues for his contributions during his tenure with the company.

Eric had a keen sense of how things worked and was the ultimate fix-it man. His garage was his haven where he spent hours working on projects. He had a passion for Corvettes and enjoyed rebuilding many to their original state.

His soft-hearted nature and compassion for others made him always willing to lend a hand. He travelled to Honduras on two different occasions to help build a school for the community. These were life changing experiences for him.

Eric was a devoted Catholic and member of Christ the King Catholic Church. In his personal life, Eric valued his time traveling with Jana and his girls. He enjoyed Indy and Nascar racing. As an avid animal lover, he took pleasure in spoiling his cocker spaniels.

In addition to his wife, Jana, and daughters Megan (Todd) of Richmond, VA and Sarah of Fayetteville, AR, Eric is survived by his mother, Patricia Stoiber of Little Rock, AR and 5 siblings: Edward Stoiber (Shelly) Mesquite, NV, David Stoiber (Marsha) Waupaca, WI, Judi Emerson, Lilburn, GA, Patti Bailey (John) and Mary Jo Suski, (Steve) both of Little Rock, AR and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his father, Edward William Stoiber. Eric is loved by all his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Eric's life will be celebrated with a rosary and visitation on Wednesday July 1, 2015 at 7:30 p.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, Little Rock, AR. Funeral services and reception will be held Thursday July 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church. Arrangements by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR (224-8300).

Memorials may be made in Eric's name to Miracle League of Joplin, MO, ACCESS Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas or Habitat for Humanity of Pulaski County.

I worked for Bailey's Properties during the years 2008-2012, I would have to say when I got word of Eric being in town I was always excited , and being I was the Asst. Manager of one of the busiest properties in Louisiana @ the time it was sure thing we would visit. I remember putting in my 2wks notice upon leaving Bailey's and getting a personal phone call from him quote "Kenyarda what in the Hell do you think you're doing" lol he surely will be missed. He often spoke of his daughters with me as he and my daddy both share the love for Corvettes.

Eric was a great man and one of the most giving and unselfish people I’ve known; he would give you the shirt off his back. I was his friend and colleague for over 20 years. He was always the first to help anyone he knew; he helped me wire a house, hang insulation, move from house to house and countless other things; this was just the way he was. My family enjoyed many times on the lake with him and Jana….I rode a jet ski for the first time. He so much loved his wife and kids it was truly infectious. I enjoyed talking with him about his daughters and all their sports; he gave me many pointers as a young father starting out with kids. I also remember how much he loved his dog Abby and we visited a lot about her as well particularly when they had to put her down which pained him so much. We had recently had to put down our dog so I was happy to be able to talk with him about such a hard time. Being from the North myself we would laugh about snow fences and how no one down South knew what they were…they’re not a fence made of snow blocks….LOL. We were both avid mechanics as well and shared many a story about work and fixing cars, we’d have so much fun talking about tools. I remember a time he brought in a battery terminal cleaner to see who might know what it was…that was a very funny set of events!! It was my pleasure to have known Eric and I will miss him; I will remember all the great times we had together!!

Jana,
I was saddened and shocked to learn of Eric's death. I remember all of the good times we had at Ball State and at your home in Fort Wayne. There is little comfort in words at this time. However, know that your faith will comfort you and your daughters through this difficult time. We will be praying for your entire family during this painful time.

With much love,

Eric and I were friends at Blachawk Jr High. Our friendship continued through high school and while at Ball State. Eric was a true friend. A big personality with a big heart. I remember his love of cars and racing. In high school, Eric won the award "will race in the indy 500"! Although I haven't been in touch with Eric over the years, I am very sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with his loved ones left behind. You are in my prayers.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My time with Eric goes back to our high school days and a few years after that. The word that comes to mind with Eric is 'big.' He was big in stature, big in voice, big in heart, and big with his presence. If you got to know Eric and get close, he was a big friend - and would do anything for you. He and I became close in our senior year of high school before I left Fort Wayne for my time in the Navy. 7 years later when I got married, he blessed Beth and I with his presence as part of the wedding party. In the years that followed, we lost touch a bit until I 'found' him again on Facebook. Because of Eric, I have a great appreciation of the Indy 500 - something I never had growing up in Indiana. I think about him every time I watch the race - and certainly will in the future. I watched the video memorial and saw the 1972 white ragtop Corvette that he had in high school - oh my, that brings back memories! I can remember like yesterday when he let me, VERY reluctantly, drive it around the roads at Lake James. To this day, that was the most awesome car I have ever driven. I will miss you Eric. I wish we had had some time together before you left us. I love you and will see you again on the other side.

Jana, when we met you, Eric, and Sarah last June at Megan and Todd's wedding, we immediately knew Todd was joining an awesome family! We embrace you all tenderly with our thoughts and prayers at this sad time. Eric will live on through your many memories, when you think of something he said or did, when you follow a family tradition, when you make one of his favorite recipes, and when you remember his big smile. He definitely touched us by his friendship and we will always remember how wonderful he made us feel during the wedding weekend, even when he barely knew us! May our God of Hope fill you all with peace,
