Mary Lee Vierhout of Gassville departed this world for heaven on Sunday, April 12, 2015 with her children around her. She was born on June 16, 1929, in Bartonville, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Rebecca Langham. Her early years were spent in rural Baxter County. She moved back to Bartonville, Illinois at the age of 12. Graduating from Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois she worked as a bookkeeper until she married William Vierhout on July 31, 1954. She enjoyed time with her family, gardening, cooking, and couponing. She also loved improving the outdoors, which was evident when her family developed a subdivision and the Lazy Acres Campground in Illinois. Upon moving to the family farm in Gassville in 1977, she found joy in sharing vegetables and flowers from her garden with her friends and fellow members of the Whiteville Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by her children Michael (Linda) Vierhout of Lowpoint, IL, Mary Ann (David) Stewart of Grayson, GA, and Linda (Steve) Roth of Mountain Home, AR. She will also be missed by her grandchildren; Beth Ireland, David Vierhout, Rebecca Schmidt, Heather Do, Katie Stewart, Jonathan Stewart, Abbie Stewart, Liby Stewart, Ben Stewart, Courtney Brown and 8 great grandchildren.
In death she will be reunited with her husband; parents; sister; grandson, Sam Roth; great granddaughter, Emma Schmidt and her beagle, Lucy.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Whiteville Baptist Church in Gassville, AR with a funeral to follow at 11:00 AM. with Pastors Bill DePierro and Mark Vance officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Whiteville Baptist Church, PO Box 252 Gassville, AR 72635.
