Mrs. Edna Marie Overbey Wheeler, 89, of Lamar, passed away March 16, 2015 in Clarksville, AR. She was born June 13, 1925 in Lamar to John Thomas and Josephine Horn Overbey .
Marie was a lifelong resident of Lamar. She had great faith and loved the Lord. She was a member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Lamar Methodist Church when her children were school age, and was nursery director for many years at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Marie had a great sense of humor, and always looked on the bright side of any situation. She loved caring for her home and garden. She took good care of her in-laws: Grandpa Wheeler, Grandma Wheeler and Kenneth; her mother: Granny Bee, and her sister: Maude. Her greatest passion was caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wheeler is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dennis Wheeler, her parents, sisters, Bertha Overbey, Mildred Carter, Ruth Horton, Glynn Graves, and Maude Looper, son in law Fred DuBois. She is survived by daughters, Brenda DuBois of Lamar; Janet and Paul Williams of Lamar; Joy Wheeler of London; son, Darrel and Sharon Wheeler of Lamar; grandsons, John DuBois of Danville, IL, Michael DuBois of Savoy, IL, Darren Wheeler of Clarksville, Matthew Griffith of Kansas City, MO; granddaughters, Cassandra Williams of Little Rock, Alisha Matthews of Centerton, AR, Angela Spencer of Stillwater, OK, Rebecca Eldridge of Lamar, Valerie Fetters of Russellville; Sara Griffith of London; great-grandchildren, Amelia Matthews, Alan Matthews, Jack Spencer, Amanda Gray, AnnMarie Eldridge, Shalynn Eldridge, Drew Eldridge, Denny Fetters, Davis Fetters and Charles Griffith.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville. Mrs. Wheeler's funeral service will be held at Cabin Creek Baptist Church in Lamar on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Gary Blair and Bro. Lynn Garmroth officiating. Burial will follow in Lamar Cemetery.
John DuBois, Michael DuBois, Adam Matthews, Darren Wheeler, Shawn Spencer, Lance Fetters, Matthew Griffith and Jason Harmon will serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cabin Creek Baptist Church, Gideons International or the Alzheimer's Association.

She was a very sweet lady that I enjoyed knowing. Sorry for your loss, she will be missed.
Darrel, I didn't know your mom but I know you and she must have been a special person to raise a son like you. May God bless you and yours during your time of loss on this earth, and we can all look forward to meeting again when our work here is done. I look forward to you introducing me to her when we get there.

I will miss Aunt Ree with her kind ways and gentle spirit. She is the last of her generation and a great tribute to them. I will never forget the times I stayed with her on the farm. It was a real treat and she always made it a fun time!! Love Always Tracy
