John Henry Holt, age 56, of Harrison, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015, at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison. He was born July 10, 1958, in Harrison, the son of Rebern Joe and Marcia Nell Holt.
John was of the Baptist faith and attended Olvey Bible Church. He was a lifelong resident of Harrison and retired from the Harrison Fire Department. He was the owner of several businesses in Harrison including Holt Bonding Company and Holt Leather Company and sponsored several youth sports programs. He was an avid fisherman and tournament fisherman, former member the International Pro Rodeo Association, Arkansas Cowboys Association, and Harrison Roundup Club.
As a youth he was a member of 4-H and FFA and received the American Farmer Award. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, roping and anything outdoors. He drove for Ready Transportation until he could no longer. Besides his daughter and grandchildren, his dog Pete was his pride and joy. John was the fighter of fighters and fought a long battle with cancer.
John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brittney Holt Breedlove and Dusty of Valley Springs; his mother, Marcia Holt Roberts of Everton; his brother and sister-in-law, Marvin Joe Holt and wife Lisa of Harrison; his grandchildren, Reid and Reese Breedlove; his nephews, Matt and Michael Holt; his Yorkie, Pete; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Rebern Henry and Lorene Watkins Holt and J.M. and Janelle Riley Atkins.
Visitation was Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the funeral home.
Funeral service was Monday March 16, 2015, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Brown officiating.
Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.
Funeral honors were provided by the Harrison Fire Department Honors Guard.
Pallbearers: Cliff Barnett, Rick Griffin, Eddie Mark Edwards, David Breedlove, Mark Billings, Terry Sims, Mitch Young and Danny Hickman.
Honorary Pallbearers: Joey Paul, Jack Buddy Holt, Donnie and Judi Fontana, Verl Martin, Rex Brazell, Esther Nicholson, Carolyn Humphrey, Dr. Clary and active and retired Harrison Fire Department Members

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the loss of your loved one.In the scriptures Job 14:14,15 and John 5:28, God promises that he will resurrect our loved ones in the near future .I hope that Jehovah , the God of comfort grant you peace.

So sorry to hear about John's passing. I will always consider him and you as friends. Our locations and years have separated us but friendships still remain. Rodeo has brought so many of us together and John will be missed by many cowboys and cowgirls. His suffering is over and he can rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
