Guymon Clovis Gammill

of Mountin View, AR

April 8, 1936 - March 6, 2015

Guymon Clovis Gammill was born April 8, 1936 at Fairview, Arkansas. He departed this life on March 6, 2015 at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the third of five children born to Earl and Ola (Martin) Gammill. He grew up in West Stone County and attended school at Fairview and Timbo.

In the mid 1950s Guy moved to Kansas where he worked for Boeing Aircraft for several years. Eventually, Guy transferred to Louisiana where he operated an overhead crane as part of NASA's Saturn V Moon Rocket construction.

Guy married Allie Beach on March 9, 1957 and started his family. Missing the hills of West Stone County, Guy moved his wife and young boys back to Arkansas in 1966. He and Allie owned and operated a cattle farm for over twenty years.

Guy and his brother-in-law, Euel Beach, owned and operated G & B Texaco. Later, Guy was joined by his brothers, LC and Harvey Gammill, and Gammill Oil Company was founded. Guy's sons, Tim and Terry, own and operate the family business to this day.

Guy had lots of hobbies during his lifetime. He loved flying his Cessna, collecting antique automobiles, driving his tractor, gun bluing, building birdhouses and furniture, and watching western movies.

Guy was a self-taught musician. He played the guitar, upright bass, and piano. He loved to play and sing in church. Guy was a member of several local blue grass bands. His passion for music gave him some of his greatest joys.

Guy is survived by his wife Allie of the home; sons Tim Gammill and wife Paula and Terry Gammill and wife Phyllis; grandchildren Lacey Vanemburg and husband Aaron, Jeremy Gammill and wife Emily, Callie Taylor and husband Brad, Kelsey Sutterfield and husband Aaron; great grandchildren Tucker Taylor, Tate Taylor, and Layla Vanemburg; brother LC Gammill and wife Frances; sisters Nola Morrison and husband Luther, and Dorothy McGehee and husband Cleon.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ola Gammill and brother Harvey Gammill.

Visitation is 6 8 p.m., Monday, March 9 at Roller Crouch Chapel, Mountain View.

Funeral Service is 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 10 at Roller Crouch Chapel, Mountain View with Brother LJ Treat officiating and interment in Stevens Cemetery on Roasting Ear Creek.

Pallbearers are Art Beach, Brian Beach, Bud Brewer, Eldon Galloway, Jeremy Gammill, and Coy Ward. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Beach, Buster Beach, Euel Beach, Robert Beach, and LC Gammill.

The singing in Heaven will be much improved now that God has Guymon singing in his choir. He was always a joy to listen to. We know you will miss him, but he is in a better place than here on earth. I pray God will bless you and keep you through this trying time.
Your friend,
Don Gammill
PS I wish he had had more time to teach L.C. how to sing&play.
