Darrell, Janet, and John I just want to tell you what a great man your dad was and a special friend to the Crafford family. He was a very giving and always helping people in need and always helping his church throughout the years. He was a kid at heart, he loved to travel, loved his family and there was always excitement around his house. I remember the day of Shetland ponies, swimming pool, and cannot forget Mickey the monkey. It changed the neighborhood. What I remember of this great friend, I was a senior in school and 17 years old and we were going on our senior trip to New Orleans in 1958. He said, Donald I want to give you something for your trip, he gave me a roll of quarters, $10 for my trip. I don't know if I ever had ten dollars in my life. We were poor but proud. That meant so much to me, Today at 74 years old, I will never forget that moment. Thank God for putting my family with neighbors like the Horace Larker family. I know God will truly bless Horace and Ruth Larker. My brother, Gail and I have been blessed as plain old country boys and God bless all of the Larker family.

When you have lived across the field from someone, since you were 4 years old, and keeping in touch, not as much as I should have, and after we all had moved away, to start new lives, there is no way you can list the things that has happened or the things that Mr Horace has done, that has involved me or my family. I must list two of them. When I was just a lad, I mowed yards along the rock road to make my spending money. One day Darrell showed up at our house, unloaded a new lawn mower and gas can. He said "Daddy wants you to have this mower, all you have to do is to mow his yard this summer, then its yours, You can mow all your other yards with it. Next year he will pay you like everyone else." In the 1950's my Mom got breast cancer, Dad had to stay in Searcy, with her, so Mr Horace said I would be staying at his house. But, before going home, he made a special trip, with me along, to take a tissue sample, to be tested, for Mom, right to the lab, in Little Rock. Too many many memories to list. I have been honored to know him all these years. I will miss him.

Jan, Darrell and John, it broke my heart not to be able to make it to Uncle Horace's funeral. I know Michelle wanted to be there, but the weather kept her from coming. He was always so special to al l o f the Nowlins, especially to Mom. I loved seeing that Michelle was as crazy about him as I was. Know that all of you are in my prayers. I know he is happy now that he is reunited with Aunt Ruth. I love you all.

My Granddaddy & I shared a very special bond along with my mother, Mitzi. When ever he wanted a no non sense and straight answer he would talk to my mom. He kept telling her that "I sure do love you, I just can't help it!", then he would just laugh. He would do things for my mom that no one else could get him to do, he trusted her with everything. He knew she would never be anything but be honest with him. They shared a lot of laughs and conversations. He knew he could count on her!! Granddaddy and I spent a day in London, England years ago, he told me that was one the best day of his life. We took off on a subway not having a clue where we would end up. Had lunch, tried on shirts, laughed. He saw a little jewelry shop and we went inside, he bought me the cutest diamond ring but told me not to say anything cause there was someone with us that would throw a fit, then we laughed harder knowing we has us a little secret! There were many more laughs that we shared and memories that no one else can take away from us! Brittney, his great grand daughter, would take him to flea markets, lunch, shopping, anywhere while she stayed with him to keep him busy and occupied. He loved her and would light up when she walked in. Others would stop by and he would pretend to be a sleep. When they would leave, he would look up and start laughing, the little bugger That's my Granddaddy! He will be missed and was so dearly loved!

To Darryl, John and Janet:
I was so sorry to learn of Mr. Horace's passing. He lived an honest, full life and was always kind to the rowdy teen-agers you kept company with.
Remember the good times!

Sincerely,

We are so sorry for your loss. I met Horace in 1974 when he bought Lincoln cars from Capps Motor Company. We became good friends for many years. He was truly a Southern Gentlemen. He will be missed greatly.

Our prayers are with you at this time. We are sorry we can't attend funeral services since we live in Dallas, TX and have ice and snow on our roads making driving impossible. We had planned to attend Mr. Larker's services.

God Bless.
