Melba Jean Pruitt, 71, of Hot Springs died Thursday, January 8, 2015. She was born September 11, 1943 in Truman to the late Charles Harris and Edith Marie Ates and was a machine operator at Jacuzzi Brothers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Allen Herod.

Survivors include a son, Mark Herod of Hot Springs; a daughter, Mary Herod of Benton; three sisters, Carolyn Shuburte of Benton, Sue Goodman of Little Rock, and Wanda Dunn of Tampa, FL; a brother, Charles Harris of North Little Rock; and six grandchildren, Rosemary Smith, Tomathon Smith, Adrian Cochran, Mark Herod, Jr., Eryne Herod and Abbi Herod.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047) with Robert Flint officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery in Benton. Serving as pallbearers are Tomathon Smith, Adrian Cochran, Dewayne Harr, John Newton, Joseph Gunn, Omar Barayan and Charles Harris.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, January 19th at the funeral home.

Thank u grandma that is what I can say. I know that your life has not been easy. and I know people have not been the nicest to u. But u was still way nicer them than u shud and u have fraught harder than any one and I will use that string th to move on and keep on going on thank you for every thing I love u and I'll always have u in my heart and I will pass your story to.my kids rip

This is signed for my grandma Jean Pruitt from her granddaughter Rosemary Smith I love her so much she was a caring she did a lot for us if it wasn't for her I don't know where would we would be words can't explain how much she means to me I couldn't just sign the book I had to say something in writing about her she always said what was on her mind and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind she always loved the outdoors like going camping traveling she was hard working I could go on about all the great things about her she wasn't just my grandma she was my mother Love Rosemay Smith
