Joan Hartsfield Holloway

of Hernando, MS

July 14, 1936 - January 3, 2015

Joan Hartsfield Holloway, 78, of Hernando, Mississippi, formerly of Helena, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2015. She was born July 14, 1936, to the late Ralph Leonard and Annie Hartsfield at Connell's Point in Monroe County, Arkansas.

She loved to work in her flower garden, but her real passion was cooking, which she did well. Spending time with her grandchildren and meeting all of their children, her ''Greats'' had been her most recent priority. She was a dedicated, faithful member of the first Baptist Church of Helena where she offered her gifts and talents in numerous ways through the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Holloway; two brothers, Troy and Vernon Hartsfield; and a nephew, Todd Thompson.

Joan is survived by her four children, Fred Holloway, and wife, Anne of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Connie Simpson, and husband, Greg of Tillar, Arkansas, Anne Holloway of Hixson, Tennessee, and Vaughn Holloway of Greenville, Texas; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth White and husband, Dustin, Emily Humm, and husband Michael, Holly Graves, and husband Ryan, Adam Denison, Ross Simpson, Jeff Davis, and wife Ansley, and Aaron Davis; nine great-grandchildren, Holden and Griffin White, Connor, Keagan and Charlotte Humm, Price and Maccoy Graves, and Caleb and Benjamin Davis. She is also survived by five sisters, Elner Crisp and Barbara Crisp of Marvell, Arkansas, Imogene Hollowell of Huntsville, Alabama, Judy Carruth of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Toni Thompson of Hernando, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena, Arkansas, with burial at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will also be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, from 12-2 p.m., just prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Adam Denison, Jeff Davis, Ross Simpson, Ryan Graves, Rhodes Thompson and Greg Simpson. Honorary pallbearers are Dustin White, Michael Humm and Aaron Davis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to First Baptist Church, 600 Franklin Street, Helena, Arkansas 72342 or Smalley Cemetery Fund, or the charity of your choosing.

Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.

So sadden to hear of Joan's death. We were in the same graduation class, MARVELL 1954. We had reconnected at a reunion. When I was in the area I would stay a couple of days and we would have a great time visiting. Also did email and phone calls. She will be greatly missed. She truly was a caring and compassion women. Love to her family. Bev Johnson

Toni and family of Joan,
I was so Blessed to have Joan as a Dear Friend and a co-worker at First National Bank. She was a Godly Southern Lady and was loved by all that knew her. My thoughts and prayers for her family and other friends for the Lord to wrap His loving arms around each of you at this time. I know that Joan is in her Heavenly Home and rejoicing with loved ones that have gone on before. I always remember her beautiful smile that she always had on her beautiful face. God Bless each of you at this time. Heavens gain is our loss. My prayers to each of her family God Bless...
