On the morning December 19, 2014, Sylvia Schumann, age 93, of Marvell, Arkansas passed away peacefully at the start of her day. Sylvia was born in Trenton, Tennessee. She grew up in Blytheville, AR where she made a lifelong friend Francis Tate. On March 1, 1945, she married William Edward Schumann and moved to Helena to begin her married life. They had two children William Lee and Cynthia Jane. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward and her children William Lee and Cynthia Jane. She was survived by her five grandchildren, Christine Schumann Hiller and spouse Jason, Theresa Schumann Alford and spouse Lance, William Lee Schumann II and spouse Dori, Adam Goddard Newquist and spouse Amanda and Cynthia Kate Newquist. She was also survived by four great grandchildren, Cole Edward Hiller, Lydia Marie Hiller, Olivia Jane Schumann and Laura Leigh Schumann.
Sylvia worked as civil servant with the United States Post Office as a rural mail carrier. She retired after 26 years of service. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Marvell since 1952. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
A graveside service for Sylvia Schumann will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Justin Curtis will officiate.

Sylvia was a wonderful neighbor for most of my life and a special friend until her dying day. I miss her already but I know she is happy to be reunited with her loved ones in Heaven. My love and sincerest sympathy to her precious grandchildren whom she loved so much.
