Ruth Ann Collins

of Mountain View, AR

February 18, 1952 - December 12, 2014

Ruth Ann Collins, 62 of Mtn. View, AR passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014. She was born on February 18, 1952 in Dallas TX to Ike and Norma Herrington. She retired in February 2014 from the U.S. Forest Service after 11 years.

Ruth was an exceptionally selfless and loving person, the word ''No'' was not in her vocabulary. She always had a smile on her face and had a zest for life beyond measure. She was also a very giving person by nature. Ruth was involved in many activities benefiting the community such as the Musicians Annual Christmas Benefit for the local children among others. She was a life-time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, AM Vets and the American Legion. Many nights you would find her playing music whether it was on the square or in a friend's garage. She was happiest with her upright bass, Josephine, and a fishing pole.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Heckel of Wimberley TX; her son David Tidwell of Grady AR; her mother, Norma Herrington of Mtn. View AR; her brother, Lee Herrington of Hardy AR; sister-in-law, Marla Herrington of Hardy AR; five grandchildren, one great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews and many loving relatives and close friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Melford R. Collins.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th, at 2:00 at the Roller-Coffman Funeral Home, Hwy 66 West, Mtn. View. AR. Brother Randy Long and Brother Steve Hentz will be conducting the services. Grave side services will follow at the Mtn. View Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Roller-Coffman Funeral home. Pallbearers are Lee Herrington, Kevin Heckel, Mike Herrington, Dakota Herrington, Bobby Halpain and Phil Dobbins. Honorary pallbearers are Skip Sapp, Carol Young, Sammy Lawrence and Danny Dixon.

I am so sorry for your loss. Always remember the Bible's promise of a resurrection where all those in the grave will come out. This includes Ruth. As the days fly by, it is just one day closer to seeing Ruth again on a paradise earth which was God's original purpose.

Ruthie could light up a room wherever she went. I enjoyed working with her, but also enjoyed the rare occasion when I got the opportunity to see her playing music on the Square. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I am all up in tears.....this very special lady to my heart has gone to be with Jesus. She were my cousin Melford's widow, he died in Desert Storm. She never remarried, or stopped loving him. Now, they are together again & my heart is so very sad to have not been able to give her one last hug. What an awesome person she, still is. Now she can sing some beautiful music along with Mel to Jesus. Keep the family in prayers as we all struggle with our intense emotions of losing such precious people to our hearts.

It was an honor to have known this talanted, neat lady and will miss her big smile. I know she is pain free now and in the presence of the Lord and making sweet music. I look forward to seeing her again someday. Comfort and peace to all Ruthie's family and friends. GOD bless---

I never knew her name but I surely did enjoy watching her play and listened to her technique intently. She will surely be missed by all who enjoyed music in Mtn. View. May the Lord be with all of you during this very difficult time.
