Richard Durrell Reed, 81 of Alma, Arkansas passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 in Van Buren. He was born on November 27, 1932 in Huron, South Dakota to his parents Delbert and Alice (Woodward) Reed.
He was a retired Registered Land Surveyor and served as the elected Washington County Land Surveyor from 1975 to 1976, Sebastian County Land Surveyor in the 1980's and Crawford County Surveyor in 2004. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, where he earned three Battle Star Service Awards and the United Nations Service Medal.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Alice Reed; his wife, Mae Evelyn (Snow) Reed and three sisters, Connie Lou Reed, Karen Hegre and Marilyn Mutter.
He is survived by his two daughters, Becky Prock of Poteau, and Pam Camp of Kirkwood, Missouri; five sons, Danny Reed of Alma, Rickey Reed and wife Leona of Van Buren, Terry Reed and wife Marcella of Fort Smith, Randy Reed and wife Elwanda of Alma and Tim Reed of Poteau; one sister, Jackie Carson of Nebraska; nineteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with Military Honors under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris. Online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas VFW District 7 in Alma, Arkansas or the Disabled American Veterans.
