Norman John EkedalI am a Veteran.

of Mountain Home, AR

December 13, 1921 - October 27, 2014

Norman Ekedal, 92, passed away on October 27, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of 71 years and children, Larry Ekedal and wife, Diane of Collierville, Tennessee, Sue Schurmann and husband David of Barrington, Illinois, Kathy Peterson and husband, David of Burnsville, Minnesota. Norman is also survived by eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Norman graduated from Lanesboro High School, Minnesota in 1943 before entering the Navy. He was a veteran of World War II. After the Navy, he worked for 40 years at Hormel.
Norman was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ as seen in his participation in many different ministries. He taught Sunday school, was the church financial secretary, and a radio broadcaster for the church. Incredibly, at sixty years of age, Norman learned Spanish, in order to minister in a Spanish ministry near Brownsville, Texas. He was also actively involved in the prison/jail and Gideon ministries. He will be missed at the Eastside Baptist Church, where he was member and has served as a deacon.
Funeral Services for Norman will be held Saturday, November 1, at 1:00 PM at Eastside Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Butler, Pastor Richard Crawford and Pastor Darrell De Board officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church Missions Fund.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home. Visit the online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.

My son was so very fond of Mr. Norm. He was kinda like another Great-Grandpa. My son told me that they both served in WWII. My son knew his Great-Grandpa was a Army medic and thought Mr. Norm was a Navy Medic. So much to relate to but, most of all when My son needed to talk he knew Mr. Norm was their to listen. Micah truly Loved Mr. Norm dearly and continues to speak of him. Blessings and Peace be with your Family Mrs.Jean.

Wow!! What a dedicated servant of the Lord was Norm. His labors in a loving way to the incarcerated especially at the Baxter County Jail will not soon be forgotten. Norm touched so many lives. Men like him are in short supply.- Matthew 23:11 says "He that is greatest among you shall be your servant." They serve God well, who serve His creatures. The highest of distinctions is the service of others. And to Norm - Norm, enjoy your rewards now, you were truly a blessed and faithful servant of the Lord!

Wow!! What a dedicated servant of the Lord. Praise God for all Norm's loving work with the incarcerated, especially here at the Baxter County Jail. Norm will truly be missed, but what a legacy he left. Comfort his dear wife Jean. A man like Norm is in a short supply. The most acceptable service of God is doing good to man. They serve God well, who serve His creatures. Matthew 23:11 says "He that is greatest among you shall be your servant."

Norm will truly be missed by all the mens who's lives were changed by him at the Baxter Co. jail. But we know with the upmost confidence, that GOD has gained a true soldier in His kingdom. We will miss him, and never forget him.

I am sorry for the family's loss. At difficult times such as this you can turn to the "Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort." (2 Corinthians 1:3)
