Velma Cathey Carr, 93 of North Little Rock went to be with her Lord Sunday, October 5, 2014. She was born in Lonoke County to Harvey and Willie Smith, February 28, 1921.
She is survived by her son Jimmy Cathey and wife, Doris; three grandchildren, Chris Cathey and wife, Stephanie, Marc Cathey and wife Erika and Colby Cathey and wife, Sarah; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Chase Cathey; three great-granddaughters Caroline, Savannah and Elizabeth Cathey all of North Little Rock; and her brother, Cletus Smith; sister-in-law, Mary Smith and a special friend, Gene Jewell.
Velma was a member of Central Baptist Church, Senior Adult Choir and Secretary for her Sunday School Class. She retired from Dillard's Department Store.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway Avenue, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Interment will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friend from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Arrangements made by Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400). The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Central Baptist Church.
