of Little Rock, AR
April 30, 1930 - September 25, 2014
Amanda Rushing, age 84, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2014. She was born in Coffeeville, Mississippi on April 30, 1930.
Amanda is preceded in death by her first husband, Douglas Eugene Woodyard, Sr.; a son, Douglas Eugene Woodyard, Jr.; mother, Modee Lorene Roy; her father, Ernest Shields, Sr.; two sisters, Margaret Lorene Roberts and E. Lucille Alley from Helena-West Helena; two brothers, Ernest Shields and James Robert Roy, Jr.
Amanda is survived by her two daughters, Kappi Louise Ross with husband, Ron H. Ross, and Margaret Lorene Woodyard, all from Little Rock, Arkansas.
Amanda's family moved from Mississippi to Helena-West Helena when she was a young child. She maintained her home in Helena-West Helena until 2006. She started having health issues and her daughters moved her to Little Rock to live with them.
Amanda loved her family and they all were so close to each other. They shared many good times together over the years. She had a gift of compassion and was always willing to help anyone in need, offer wisdom or advice if asked, share a smile or laugh, an encouraging word or a shoulder to cry on. She prayed each day for her family and others.
Amanda grew up in a Christian family and was a Christian girl herself from an early age. She also made sure her girls grew up going to church and becoming Christians themselves. She was a beloved mother to her two daughters, Kappi and Margaret. She was always there to support them in all activities they took part in.
Amanda worked as a physician's office nurse for over 20 years. She was a very creative person and her hobbies included knitting crochet, needlepoint, cross stitching and other creative crafts. Her favorite music was country and western. Her favorite hymns were ''Amazing Grace'' and ''How Great Thou Art''. Her favorite book was the Holy Bible. Her greatest passion was her children. Amanda will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hickory Heights Health and Rehab and Hospice Home Care in taking great care of our dear mother.

Kappi and Margaret,
Your mother was a wonderful lady and I know she will be missed greatly. She left a wonderful legacy - the two of you. As I read her obituary, I see the same great qualities in you. Be blessed in the knowledge that God is welcoming home one of his Angels.
Kappi and Margaret~
We were privileged to pray for your mother during her illness, and now our prayers are for you. We grieve her loss with you, and also praise God for His mercy in taking her "home" to be with Him, healed and enjoying the beauties of heaven.
