Darlene Sutton Allen, 66, of Southside died Monday, September 15, 2014, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born October 11, 1947, in Batesville, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Hershel Wayne Sutton and Lucille Gray Sutton. Darlene graduated from Southside High School in 1965 and worked as an accountant. She loved her family, was especially proud of her grandchildren, and loved her dogs. She was strong-willed and protective of her siblings. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Frankie Allen of Southside; a daughter, Terrie Allen Stubbs and her husband, Mitchell, of Southside; four grandchildren, Nathan Simmons, Quincy Simmons, Tyson Franks and Tyra Stubbs; three great-grandchildren, Penelope Simmons, Sutton Simmons and Purcyus Simmons; a son-in-law, Eddie Simmons of Southside; a brother, Gary Sutton and his wife, Pam, of Richmond, Virginia; a sister, Carolene Tosh and her husband, Ray, of Cave City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Tina Allen Simmons; a brother, Jerry Sutton; a nephew, Alan Thompson; and two great nieces, Ashley Tosh and Lauren Tosh.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Ramsey Heights Baptist Church with Billy Sutton and Aaron Maxwell officiating.
Burial will be at York Cemetery in Pleasant Grove under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Henderson, Jerry Henderson, Dale Henderson, Joseph Nast, Braxton Roach and Kyle Altom.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Scales, Jackson Nast, Woody Thompson, Greg Altom, Sam Davis, Tadpole Franks, Cade Skidmore and Preston Thompson.
Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the funeral home.

I just can't believe this is real. I already miss her so much. Darlene was one of a kind and when she said she loved you she meant it. She will always be a grandma to me. She loved with her whole heart. Please know that I am praying for all of the family and friends of this amazing woman. I feel blessed that I had her in my life the short time that I did.

I am so sorry for your loss. I haven't seen Darlene in a long time. When I was in the 5th and 6th grade at Southside, we didn't have a P.E. teacher, so Darlene would take us on long walks and she would sing to us as we walked. I have wonderful memories of her. Sincerely Carol
