Mary Eva Walker Mathis, age 90, died in Grapevine, Texas on August 29, 2014.
Born May 21, 1924 in Alicia, Arkansas, she was a graduate of Dyess High School and Draughon School of Business. On February 14, 1943 she married Jim Mathis. They were married 54 years.
Mary lived most of her life in Little Rock, Arkansas where she worked for Olin Chemicals until her retirement. She loved fishing, cooking and cheering for the Razorbacks. She was an active member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church and many clubs and organizations. She was most proud of the Order of Hannah recognition she received by Mabelvale United Methodist Church for her years of prayer, presence, gifts, service and witness to the Lord.
Survivors include her daughter, Jimmie Ann Victory, her husband Jimmy Dale, grandson Jay Victory, his wife Cindy, and their children Preston, Alexis and Austin, granddaughter Jody Mills, her husband Scott, and their children, Greyson and Carson, her sister, Eunice Cheatham and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kirk and Ollie Bell Walker, her husband, Jim Mathis, her siblings, Emily Sullivan, William Walker and Kirk Walker Jr.
Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2014 at Mabelvale United Methodist Church, 10500 Woodman, Mabelvale, Arkansas 72103. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Highway 5N, Alexander, Arkansas 72002 following the service.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the church an hour before the service for visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome to Mabelvale United Methodist Church.

Mary was such a beautiful person. She always had a kind word and seemed to love everyone. She will be missed.
I am so sorry for your loss. I met Miss Mary when I joined the Southwest Extension Homemakers Club. She was a wonderful light to all who met her. Her memory will always be so valuable to me. She was loved by so many and that love will live on in all she touched.

We live in Glade Corners Retirement Community and loved Mary so much. We shared meals with her from time to time. And we attended her 90th birthday party here at Glade Corners. Our fellowship with her will be missed, but we will always cherish her gentle, loving smile and Christian spirit forever.
Mary was a special lady , so sorry for your loss. She will never be forgotten.
