Sarah Green

of Oil Trough, AR

January 28, 1941 - August 24, 2014

Sarah Frances Montgomery Green, age 73, of Oil Trough, formerly of Batesville, died Sunday, August 24, 2014, at her home following a courageous battle with a rare form of ovarian cancer.

Born January 28, 1941, in Newport, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Faye (Blanton) Montgomery.

She grew up in Newport and graduated from Newport High School in 1958. Sarah worked for the Batesville School District, Kid Care, for 20 years until her diagnosis of cancer in April 2013. ''Miss Sarah'' touched the lives of many children and their parents throughout her career.

She created a loving home for her family and enjoyed reading, gardening and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was a wonderful cook, and made holidays and birthdays special for her children. She was a devoted wife and mother, and affectionately called ''nana'' by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She often sacrificed her own needs to ensure each of her children had the opportunity to participate in numerous sports, school and community activities. Throughout her life, she was admired for her exceptional beauty and grace. We will miss her with all of our hearts and will cherish the time we had together.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Bobby Green of Oil Trough; five children, Lisa Green of Batesville, Marty Green and his wife, Cindy, of Benton, Dr. Michael Green and his wife, Nicole, of Gallatin, Tennessee, Susan Green of Oil Trough, and Dr. Melanie Looney and her husband, Kim, of Batesville; grandchildren, Jonathan Green of Fayetteville, Hunter Green of Benton, Sarah Ramsey of Maple Springs, Amanda McKibben of Little Rock, Dylan McKibben of Oil Trough, Sydney Green of Gallatin, Olivia, Jack, and Reece Looney, all of Batesville; two great-grandchildren, Miranda and Wyatt Ramsey; a sister, Nancy Foster of Pleasant Plains; two brothers, Jim Montgomery of Newport and Guy Stanley Montgomery of Bella Vista; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kim Looney, Jack Looney, Logan Foster, Hunter Green, Matthew Montgomery and Eddie Wagoner.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the Roller-Crouch Chapel in Batesville with Doc Spurlin officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.

A private family burial will follow.

The family wishes to express our appreciation to the UAMS Oncology Department, White River Medical Center and Arkansas Hospice for the care and compassion shown to our beloved wife, mother and grandmother.

Miss Sarah will really be missed...I had the chance to be graced with her presence for many years working at Kid Care with her....she loved her kids and grandkids and gave great advice...words can not express how she has impacted my life with wisdom grace and in many other unspoken ways...I send my condolences to the family and I pray that the family may find peace in her passing.

"Miss Sarah" was one of the sweetest ladies we have known and took wonderful care of our daughter at Kid Care. Our daughter loved "Miss Sarah" and on several occasions, when she was little, pretended she was "Miss Sarah" and would call her dolls names over a toy walkie talkie to let them know their "parents" were there to pick them up. She has touched the hearts and lives of many children and families during the years and will be missed by all who knew her. May God give her family peace and comfort.

In Christ,

To the Green Family:

Sarah Green was wonderful. I met her when my granddaughter went to Batesville Preschool 18 years ago. Sarah was friendly. She was kind. She was beautiful inside and out. If her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren turn out to be like Sarah, the world will be a much better place. Anyone who met her loved her. Everyone always appreciated the care she took with our children and grandchildren. We loved Sarah. She will be missed.
