Raymond ''Ray'' Barnes, age 82, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home. Ray was born March 4, 1932 at Marvell, Arkansas to the late Walter James Barnes and the late Ruby Dottry Barnes. He was a member of the Church of God in Prophecy and worked in the logging industry.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Allen Barnes; one son, Alan Barnes (Sherry) of Barton, Arkansas; one daughter, Linda Worstell of Helena; six grandchildren, Alan Barnes, Jr. (Brooke) of Lexa, Arkansas, Melissa Barnes of West Helena, Jeff Halbert (Missy) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Curtis Reed (Deana) of Harrison, Arkansas, Wayne Worstell of Helena and Michael Barnes of West Helena; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dora Vipperman of West Helena.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Sharon Halbert and Brenda Coy; one son, Michael Barnes; three brothers, Everett Barnes, Hubert Barnes and William Barnes; a son-in-law, David Worstell; and brother-in-law David Vipperman.
A service for Ray Barnes will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2014 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Marvell Cemetery in Marvell, Arkansas. Reverend Doris Smith and Reverend Jeff Halbert will officiate.
Pallbearers are Alan Barnes, Jr., Jeff Halbert, Curtis Reed, Wayne Worstell, Adam Rowland and Josh Rowland.
Memorials may be made to the Church of God in Prophecy.
Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.
I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Ray passing away! I was out of town on vacation at the time. He was always such a nice man to me and my family. I know he will be missed by all!

Mr. Barnes was a truly nice man and a great neighbor. He helped coach our son in baseball and was loved by all. We are so sorry to hear of his passing.
