Vickie Ann Pruetzel

of Marshall, AR

February 15, 1956 - July 7, 2014

Vickie Ann Phillips Pruetzel, age 58 of Marshall, Arkansas departed this life on Monday, July 07, 2014 to be forever with the Lord. She was born in Marshall, Arkansas on February 15, 1956 to WT "Dub" Phillips and Emma Ellen (Parks) Phillips.

Vickie became a Christian when she was nine years of age and was baptized in Bear Creek. Her dad was saved and baptized on the same day as Vickie and they both became members of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall. Vickie taught children in Sunday school since she was a teenager and would not have wanted it any other way. She has held three jobs in her lifetime, two radio stations: KCGS AM and KBCN FM, and the Searcy County Library, all of which she enjoyed immensely.

Vickie lived a full and vivacious life and enjoyed many of the wonders this world held. She was an avid reader and her favorite authors were Helen Girvan and Cynthia Rylant; her favorite book was "Blue Treasure." Ever a lover of music, her favorite musician was her dad, WT, playing the Dobro Guitar. She also enjoyed listening to Alabama, the Eagles, the Beach Boys and hearing her favorite pop song, "Under the Boardwalk." "Only Jesus can satisfy Your Soul" was her favorite gospel song. Vickie enjoyed good food, including fried oysters, lemons, strawberries, blueberries and an ice cold Pepsi. She liked to stop and smell the roses, honeysuckle, daisies and magnolias and loved to catch a glimpse of a pretty redbird. She loved the blue-green emerald colored waters and white sand found at Panama City Beach, Florida.

Vickie is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Donna Phillips; and father-in-law, Fred Pruetzel.

Survivors include her husband Charles Pruetzel, the love of her life and "favorite friend". Vickie said, she always knew before she met Charles that he was out there in the world somewhere and someday when God's time was right their lives would meet. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Bernice Pruetzel; sister-in-law, Linda Connors; nephew, David Connors; niece, Courtney Connors Langston-Jones and husband Jeffery Langston-Jones and their daughter, Mia Grace; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Vickie will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. John Myatt officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Friday, July 11, 2014 in the Chapel. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Horton, Reynold Horton, Gary Sutterfield, Jim Parks, Ray Younger, Woody Smith and Bob Connors. Honorary pallbearers will be Coy Lee Horton, Steve Cates, James Sutterfield, Larry Parks, John Nation, Danny Parks, Ken Parks, Andy Parks, John Parks Jr., Tim Boone, Tim Sutterfield, Frank Sutterfield, Stacy Smith, Brian Smith, Adam Younger, JR Moore and David Conners.
At the families request memorial contributions may be made to the Canaan Cemetery Fund, c/o Simmons First National Bank, PO Box 250, Marshall, AR, 72650 or Hospice of the Hills, PO Box 2020, Harrison, AR, 72602.

Vickie was a precious lady and a wonderful Christian Friend. I went to Church with her for many years at Landmark MB Church in Marshall and knew her mom and dad as well. Vickie had a beautiful voice and used her talents (singing and playing instruments)
for the Lord. I am so blessed for having known her and my life touched deeply by her.
I can still hear her singing and teaching the children's lessons at Church and teaching the books of the bible to the children thru song. She will be greatly missed by all whom she has touched but we know she is in a better place! Our prayers are with Charles and family.

I remember Vickie as my Sunday school teacher when I'd spend my summers with my grandma in Marshall. It wasn't until I was talking about "my Sunday school teacher Vickie" that someone remarked, "you do know she's your cousin too?" She was one of the most gentle and kind women I've had the privilege to know. Even though I have not seen Vickie in a number of years, her role during my formative years made an indelible impression. She will be missed and I send my deepest sympathies to her family and friends at this time.

I was able to visit briefly with Vickie in the hallway at MHS, in April, as she was able to attend her high school reunion. Although she didn't feel well, Vickie still had that "Hi, how are you" pleasant greeting and smile that we all knew her for. May God bring comfort and peace to her family in this time of need.
