Ila Carter, 76, of Fifty-six, Arkansas, died June 24, 2014 in Stone County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Mountain View, Arkansas.
Ila Oveda Carter (nee Holmes) was born in Lonoke, Arkansas on September 20. 1937. She is survived by her husband, retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Emmett (Rick) Carter, Fifty-six, Arkansas; Steven Carter and his wife Lisa, Henderson, Nevada; Kristina Carter and her twin sons Jack and Riley Carter, also of Henderson, NV. She is also survived by her sister Fronia Jones, Ashton, Illinois and her brother Kelly Stanley, Stuttgart, Arkansas. She is pre-deceased by her parents John Dewey Holmes and Alma Ila Holmes (nee Bishop), infant daughter Cynthia Denise Carter, and brother John Holmes.
Ila spent many years living overseas in Japan, Germany and Greece with Rick while he served in the Air Force. Her love to travel took her to all fifty states and more than twenty foreign countries. Especially memorable to her were her and Rick's cross-country trips on their motortrike. Once retired they moved back to Arkansas where they've made many close friends in the Mountain View area.
The family will receive visitors at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home, 1701 W. Main in Mountain View from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, June 27th. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 28th at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the American Cancer Society.

I was so sorry to hear about Ila. I just found out from my ex Judy. Hope that you are well. I remember the good times in Crete Greece Air Force housing.

It's very hard for us to believe Ila is gone. We will miss her greatly. Her warm smile, keen wit, gracious manner -- her presence! It will never be the same without her.
