Betty Jo Crain, age 81, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born March 4, 1933, in Harrison, the daughter of Dick and Dorothy (Young) Gooch. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Milton Gooch.

A longtime member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church, Mrs. Crain grew up in Harrison and moved to Springfield 31 years ago to be closer to her daughter and grandson. She was married to Charles Fred Crain for 24 years before his death in 2011. She was a very accomplished cook and you couldn't beat her pies. In her later years, she enjoyed playing Bingo at Culpepper Place Assisted Living.

Betty Jo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Harley Bryant, of Springfield; her grandson and his girlfriend, Jeremy Bryant and Katie Awald, of Wheeler, Indiana; a host of aunts and cousins; and many dear friends.



Visitation was Friday, June 6, 2014, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Graveside service was Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Bryant, Katie Awald, Harley Bryant, Jack Witty and Bill Witty.

Dear Miss Betty what joy and Blessing you were to myself and Remington. We ate pizza the day we were all to eat together in memory of you my dear sweet friend. I will miss our times together, laughter and your wonderful life stories.Your kindness to my son,Remington, who loved you and enjoyed one more Grandmother in his short life. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your life.

Vicki and Family, I am so so sorry for your loss. Not only will Mom miss her so much but I will as I enjoyed visiting her when I could. She talked so highly of all of you especially Jeremy. I am sorry I will not be able to make the service or visitation. I will be thinking and rayig for all of you!! May God wrap his arms around as you go through your loss. Not easy losing a parent that is for sure.

Going to miss you dear friend! We cried on each other's shoulders a lot, had lots of laughs, enjoyed eating out & driving around & seeing all the sights! Now you can walk every where & won't need that oxygen. As Charles always said you are my "sister". Rest in peace!
