of Conway,
November 10, 1927 - May 5, 2014
Leatha Mae Engelkes, born November 10, 1927 in Stuttgart, Arkansas received her beautiful wings in heaven May 5, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Myra Newton and seven siblings. She is also predeceased by her husband, Buddy Engelkes and daughter, Linda Edward. She is survived by her son, Jack Engelkes (Cheryl) of Conway, daughters Cathy Engelkes and Myra Engelkes of Conway and her sisters Ruth Owen of Camden and Patsy Vose of Stuttgart. She is also survived by thirty-five grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Blessed to be part of a large family, she also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews. And last but not least, she will be missed greatly by her extended family, friends and her first canine love, Bebe.
Perhaps her greatest asset was Mae Mae's personal character. She was ahead of her time, setting the example in always thinking the best of others and being non-judgmental. And a character she was, always full of fun and decked out with bright colors and lots of bling. Her favorite pastimes were shopping, especially with Patsy and Ruth, spending time on the lake, traveling, and, of course, she always looked forward to family functions. Besides being the best mom and a great friend to all, she was an accomplished seamstress and loved interior decorating. Famous for her homemade noodles and desserts, Mae Mae was a fantastic cook who cherished holidays and family gatherings. Above all, Mae Mae loved her family. She was known for her faith, her big heart and always had enough love for (and photographs of) everyone. We will miss her dearly
