Joseph ''Joe'' E. Brown, 88 of Damascus passed away, Sunday April 20, 2014. He was born in Damascus, April 23, 1925 to the late Alvin J. and Lydia Sims Brown. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, and six brothers.
Joe was a member of First Baptist Church Damascus, he also was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy where he served during World War II. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clariece Ward Brown; two sons, Terry Brown and wife Debbie of Atlantic Beach, FL, Jeffrey Brown and wife Cathy of Abilene, TX; five grandchildren, Michael and wife Nicole, Karen, Elizabeth, Tyler, Caroline.
Joe retired from the U.S. Civil Service as an employee of the Department of Navy. After retirement he travelled extensively with Clariece, the love of his life. He loved to build things for the grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He was also an avid gardener and photographer.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the First Baptist Church Damascus with Bro. Daniel Williams and Bro. John Burleson officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Bro Joe. We pray for God's comfort to you and your family. I have missed seeing those beautiful huge sunflowers in your garden growing along the highway. I will never forget them.
