Greta LaDonne Shackelford, 60, passed into glory on Monday, March 17, 2014 after a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born November 1, 1953 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to Joseph Charles Smith and Joy (Allen) Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, nephews and niece, Don, Corey and Lindsey Smith.
She is survived by the love of her life, Tommy Shackelford, her son, Gray Shackelford (Elizabeth), granddaughter, Katherine and grandson, Liam Shackelford. She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her son, Gray , was the apple of her eye. She is also survived by her sister, Jan Byrd(Gary) of Conway; her twin brother, Charles Gaylon Smith (Linda) of Cabot; her younger brother, David Smith also of Cabot; nephew Nathan Smith of Conway and niece, Amanda Smith of Perryville.
She was a long time member of Second Baptist Church where she had participated in children's ministries and adult bible study.
She was employed by Dr. James McNiece, DDS, PA from 1979-1997, and Dr. Robert J. Parker, DDS, MS from 1997 to present. She will be greatly missed by all of her former and current work family.
Some of her greatest enjoyments were spending time with her grandchildren and family, vacationing at any beach, camping, girl's night out, and traveling with her ''sisterhood'' of friends. She loved sunsets, full moons and Jackson Brown Band. Her smile, laughter, and joy will be missed by her family and friends. She will always be the song in our hearts.
A memorial service to honor Greta will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Second Baptist

Dear Tom, Grey, Gaylon, David, Jan and family, I'm very sorry to hear that you're beloved Greta, has lost her battle with cancer. Her passing will certainly leave each of you with a huge loss where she shared in your life. However, God is in total control of her time of passing. It's important to remember, this is a time of not just sadness and sorrow, but a time of celebration too! God has allowed Greta to graduate from a life, where she endured horrible pain, medicinal treatments, surgery's,where she suffered terribly. We can't begin to tell you how sorry we are for the loss of this precious lady...wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a best friend to so many. I know the angels were rejoicing when she went home & is now in the presence of our wonderful Lord!!! She was a very special person who fought the battle for so long & she never gave up!!! she was such a strong-willed & determined person to be with her loved one here. But we know she is at peace now & no more suffering. It is those of us still here that are hurting now for our loss.
