Tommie Eleanor Horner, 99, of Lamar, began her journey into heaven on March 11, 2014, two days before her 100th birthday. She was born March 13, 1914, in Harrison, Arkansas, to the late Walter Smithson and Ella (Guthrie) Smithson. She was affectionately known as ''Auntie'' by her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Horner was a charter member of the Lamar Baptist Church where taught the Mary and Martha Sunday School Class, for many years.
Mrs. Horner leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory: Cheryl and Don Cowell of Lamar, Becky and Al Frazier of Russellville, Marcia and Johnny Riggs of Jenks, Oklahoma, Sherry and Russ Bates of Chico, California, Carolyn and Nick Nichols of Skellytown, Texas, Jimmie and Karen Horner of Amarillo, Texas, Tommy Horner of Mineral Wells, Texas Peggy and Larry Ross of Spring, Texas; a special friend, Arvetta Turner; and a number of great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Horner; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Jim Nycewonder.
Mrs. Horner's funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home, with Bro. Clyde Vire officiating. Burial will follow in Lamar Cemetery.
